Meeting and working with Taichung University of Science and Technology (Taiwan)

On August 26, 2016, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with a delegation from Taichung University of Science and Technology (China), led by Dr. Cheng Chung-Mei (Director of the Language Center). Representatives from the Faculty of History, the Training Department, and the Cooperation and Development Department also participated in the meeting.

Meeting and working with Taichung University of Science and Technology (Taiwan)

Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) stated that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the social sciences and humanities. The university currently has 16 faculties, 12 centers and research institutes, as well as over 10,000 students and trainees at various levels and training programs. In 1995, the University established the Department of Chinese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and has been providing training from bachelor's to doctoral levels in Chinese Studies. Many Chinese students have studied subjects such as International Studies, Vietnamese Studies, and Vietnamese language at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the framework of 1+3 and 2+2 training programs. The University hopes to further expand its cooperative relationships with Chinese universities and research institutes.

In response, Dr. Cheng, Chung-Mei thanked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for its warm welcome and proposed several collaborative activities between the University of Taichung Science and Technology and the University, such as organizing international conferences, student and faculty exchanges, and implementing 2+2 and 1+3 training programs. In particular, the University of Taichung Science and Technology hopes the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will assist in compiling Vietnamese language textbooks and organizing Vietnamese language exams using the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Assessment Test for Foreigners that the University has already developed.

Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan pledged that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will make every effort to help implement the proposals of Taichung University of Science and Technology and expand cooperation between the two sides.

National Taichung University of Science and Technology (NTCUST) is located in Taichung, Taiwan. Originally named the National Taichung Institute of Technology, NTCUST currently comprises five affiliated schools and one center: the School of Business, the School of Design, the School of Languages, the School of Informatics and Distribution, the School of Health Sciences, and the Center for General Education. Currently, approximately 600 Vietnamese students are studying at NTCUST.
