Sad news: Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Phan Huu Dat passed away

Prof. Dr. People's Teacher PHAN HUU DAT (1928-2019)

Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, born on June 1, 1928 (Year of the Dragon). Native place: Thanh Luong village, Huong Xuan commune, Huong Tra district, Thua Thien Hue province. Residence: No. 41A, group 26, Lam Du street, Bo De ward, Long Bien district, Hanoi.

Former Head of the History Department (1970-1975), Head of the Department in charge of Saigon University, Head of the Department in charge of Saigon University of Letters, Principal of Saigon University of Letters (1975-1977); Head of the Department of Ethnology (1986-1988), Vice Principal (1977-1981), Acting Principal (1981-1985) and Principal of Hanoi University of Science (1985-1988), Member of the National Council for Directing the Compilation of the Vietnamese Encyclopedia, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Head of the Ethnology Department of the Vietnamese Encyclopedia from 1994 until retirement.

Former Honorary Professor of Lomonosov University (Soviet Union), University of Paris VII (Republic of France), Former President of Vietnam Ethnology Association (1998-2003), Former President of Association of Former Teachers of Hanoi National University, Course I.

Second Class Anti-French Resistance Medal (1957) and Third Class (1964), Second Class Anti-American National Salvation Medal (1985), Third Class Labor Medal (1985), First Class Labor Medal (1998), 70-year Party membership badge, State Prize for Science and Technology (2005) and many other Medals and Commemorative Medals.

After a period of illness, despite the dedicated care and treatment of doctors and family, due to old age and serious illness, the Master passed away at 2:52 a.m. on April 18, 2019 (March 14, Ky Hoi year), at the age of 92.

The funeral will be held from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. on April 21, 2019 (March 17, Ky Hoi year) at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

Funeral service and burial at 8:30 am, April 21, 2019.

The funeral was held at 1:00 p.m. the same day at Van Dien Cemetery, Thanh Tri, Hanoi.
