During the meeting, Professor Joyce Chi-Hui Liu introduced the International Cultural Center (ICCS). Established in 2012, ICCS is an inter-university research center within the Taiwan University System, encompassing National Chiao-Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, National Central University, and National Yang Ming University. ICCS brings together social science and humanities scholars from these four universities, developing an International Master's Program in Inter-Asian Cultural Studies, promoting interdisciplinary, transnational, and inter-university research projects, and fostering an international educational environment. Currently, ICCS is implementing a key project entitled “Conflict, Justice, and Decolonization: Critical Studies in Inter-Asian Societies,” bringing together 31 scholars from various disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, political philosophy, gender studies, and discourse analysis.
Furthermore, the Research Institute for Social and Cultural Studies (SRCS) of Chiao Tung University is also implementing the project “Migrant Workers’ Rights, Legal Counseling and Cross-Regional Connectivity”. Based on the similarities with the academic disciplines of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Joyce Chi-Hui Liu expressed hope that scholars from the University could participate in these projects.
