During the meeting, GIZ representatives introduced the Social Objectives in Sustainable Green Growth Project. Launched in 2016 in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the project aims to strengthen the integration of social factors into the development of green growth policies and strategies. The project provides technical support, knowledge transfer, and experience sharing on assessing the impact of social policies, while also enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese government officials and staff.
For higher education institutions such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Project expresses its desire to support the capacity of lecturers and students in the field of social impact assessment. This would involve incorporating this field into the training programs of relevant units such as the Department of Social Work and the Faculty of Sociology. Initially, the Project proposes organizing workshops and training courses to introduce and supplement social impact assessment skills for the University's staff and lecturers.
On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated GIZ's goodwill towards the University through the idea of developing the Project. The Rector also agreed that universities have a role and the ability to contribute to the development of social policies at the state level. In the coming time, the Faculty of Sociology of the University will discuss in detail with GIZ representatives about specific cooperation options. The two sides may also sign a formal memorandum of understanding to serve as a basis for cooperation.
