KF scholarships awarded and Korean Studies classroom upgrade project inaugurated.

On January 26, 2022, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, held a scholarship awarding ceremony and inaugurated the project to upgrade the multi-functional and smart classrooms. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Korea Foundation (KF) and Samsung Group, university leaders, and faculty and students from the Korean Studies Department.

At the ceremony, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and Mr. Choi Jea-Jin (Chief Representative of the KF Office in Hanoi) cut the ribbon to inaugurate the project to upgrade the regular classrooms of the Korean Studies program into modern smart and multi-purpose classrooms. This upgrade is not only practically significant for current online teaching and learning, but also for in-person teaching and learning, as well as future seminars and conferences.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Choi Jae-Jin (Chief Representative of the KF Office in Hanoi) highly appreciated the efforts of the Faculty of Oriental Studies in implementing and completing the project to upgrade the smart, multi-functional classroom amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Through supporting the classroom upgrade, KF aims to improve the quality of Korean Studies education at the Faculty and the University. He hoped that in the future, the relationship between KF and the University would continue to develop, and more collaborative projects would be implemented.

On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University) expressed his delight that the classrooms of the Korean Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, have become more modern and well-equipped. The investment and support from international partners such as KF and Samsung over the past decades have been a great source of encouragement for the Faculty and Department; helping the Korean Studies program maintain its position and prestige, and creating conditions for expanding training quotas in the coming years. Close cooperation between the University and its Korean partners also contributes to the overall Vietnam-Korea educational relationship.

Next, 15 KF scholarships, each worth $250, were awarded to outstanding Korean Studies students and students from disadvantaged backgrounds who still achieved good academic results. This serves as encouragement for each scholarship recipient, helping them to always strive for high academic achievement and personal development.

The Korea Foundation (KF) is an organization that supports people-to-people diplomacy aimed at promoting the image of Korea to the world and expanding friendly cooperation. Since its establishment in 1991, the KF has made numerous efforts to enhance the world's understanding of Korea through diverse activities such as supporting educational institutions with Korean studies programs, expanding international cooperation networks, cultural and artistic exchanges, and media activities.
