Implementing cooperation with the Jeju Provincial Department of Education.

On November 26, 2014, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector) received and worked with a delegation from the Jeju Provincial Department of Education (South Korea), led by Professor Park Yeong Seon (Director of the Planning and Finance Department). Representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Department of External Relations and International Training Cooperation also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim briefly introduced the history of training and research at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, highlighting its status as a leading institution in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. The Vice-Rector proposed collaboration with the Jeju Provincial Department of Education, suggesting areas for joint activities such as student exchange and collaborative research. The University has a Faculty of Oriental Studies with a Korean Studies program, making it one of the only institutions in Vietnam offering Korean studies programs.

Professor Park Yeong Seon suggested to Associate Professor Nguyen Van Kim that the Jeju Provincial Department of Education send students from multicultural schools nationwide to study at the school. Associate Professor Nguyen Van Kim stated that the school is ready to welcome these students and will support those who do not yet have sufficient Vietnamese language proficiency. In addition, the school will also send experienced teachers to instruct these students.

During the meeting, the two sides also had initial discussions about signing a joint cooperation agreement to move towards more concrete collaborations.
