169 outstanding young people were honored.

The ceremony honoring outstanding young people in 2008 took place on December 8, 2008, to recognize the achievements of students and young staff in general, and outstanding young people in particular, during the past academic year.

Among the 169 outstanding young people this time, there are 148 students and 21 young officials.

Regarding academic achievements, the 2007-2008 academic year was designated as the year for implementing credit-based training for cohorts 51 and 52, and applying the positive aspects of credit-based training to cohorts 49 and 50. The school implemented training that met societal needs and reformed teaching and learning methods to improve the quality of education. For cohorts 49 and 50, 4.79% of students achieved excellent academic results, 34.81% achieved good results, 45.62% achieved fair results, and 13.95% achieved average or above-average results. Specifically for the high-quality program, 22.63% of students achieved excellent results, 52.64% achieved good results, and 24.21% achieved fair results. In cohorts 51 and 52, 0.48% of students achieved excellent academic results, 10.38% achieved good results, and 60.75% achieved fair results.

In recognition of these achievements, the Rector of the University awarded certificates of merit to 68 students who achieved excellent and outstanding academic results, 57 students who were class officers, Youth Union and Student Association leaders with outstanding achievements in their studies and work, and 55 students from disadvantaged backgrounds who excelled in their studies. Outstanding students included Nguyen Thu Anh – K50 Library and Information Science, Ngo Thi Thuy Dung – K50 Oriental Studies, Pham Thi Huyen Tran – K51 Management Science, Pham Le Da Huong – K51 Oriental Studies...

Regarding scientific research achievements, 564 students participated in scientific research, of which 107 students were the authors of 78 award-winning student scientific research projects. Also during the 2007-2008 academic year, 131 students were given opportunities and sent abroad for scientific exchange, conference attendance, research, and study.

Regarding achievements in social and cultural activities, last year, the university's students successfully implemented the campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh," winning second prize at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) level in the Storytelling Contest about the moral example of Ho Chi Minh, first prize in the Singing Festival dedicated to him, and first prize in the VNU Informatics Olympiad. In addition, many other humane social activities carried out by students and young staff have contributed to building the "brand" of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in social movements for the common good of the community.

In 2008, 292 students participated in the Party membership orientation course, of which 52 students and 21 young cadres were honored to be admitted into the Party.

In the overall list of achievements of students and young staff, 169 outstanding individuals in various fields of activity were commended by the university, including 17 students and 8 young staff members nominated for the title of Outstanding Young Person at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and 2 students and 2 other young staff members nominated for a Certificate of Merit from the Director of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

At the awards ceremony, delegates and students also heard about the learning experiences of outstanding young person Ngo Thi Thuy Dung (K50 Chinese Studies - Faculty of Oriental Studies) and a report on the achievements in teaching and research of another exemplary young person, MSc. Pham Hoang Giang (lecturer in the Faculty of Philosophy).
