Honoring 169 outstanding young faces

The ceremony to honor outstanding young faces of 2008 took place on December 8, 2008 to recognize the achievements that students and young staff in general, and outstanding young faces in particular, have achieved in the past school year.

Among the 169 outstanding young faces this time, there are 148 students and 21 young cadres.

Regarding academic performance, the 2007-2008 school year was determined to be the year of credit-based training in courses 51 and 52 and the application of positive elements of credit-based training to courses 49 and 50. The school has implemented training to meet social needs and innovated teaching and learning methods to improve training quality. Courses 49 and 50 had 4.79% of students with excellent academic results, 34.81% with good grades, 45.62% with good grades, 13.95% with average and good average grades. In the high-quality system alone, 22.63% of students had excellent academic results, 52.64% with good grades, and 24.21% with good grades. Courses 51 and 52 had 0.48% of students with excellent academic results, 10.38% with good results, and 60.75% with fair results.

In recognition of these achievements, the School Principal awarded certificates of merit to 68 students with excellent and excellent academic results, 57 students who are class, Youth Union and Association officials with achievements in study and work, 55 students with difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies. Outstanding students in their studies include Nguyen Thu Anh - K50 Library Information, Ngo Thi Thuy Dung - K50 Oriental Studies, Pham Thi Huyen Tran - K51 Management Science, Pham Le Da Huong - K51 Oriental Studies...

Regarding scientific research achievements, 564 students participated in scientific research, of which 107 students were the authors of 78 works that won the Student Scientific Research Award. Also in the 2007-2008 school year, 131 students were given opportunities and sent to scientific exchanges, attend conferences, research and study abroad.

Regarding achievements in social and cultural activities, last year, the school’s students successfully implemented the campaign “Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh”, winning the second prize at the VNU level at the Storytelling Contest about the moral example of Ho Chi Minh, the first prize at the Singing Festival dedicated to him, and the first prize at the VNU Informatics Olympiad. In addition, there are many other social activities rich in humanity carried out by students and young staff, contributing to building the “brand” of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in social movements for the common benefit of the community.

In 2008, 292 students attended the Party sympathy training class, of which 52 students and 21 young cadres were honored to be admitted to the Party.

In the general achievements of students and young staff, there are 169 most typical faces in many fields of activities that have been honored by the school, of which 17 students and 8 young staff were proposed to be recognized as Outstanding Young Faces at VNU level, 2 students and 2 other young staff were proposed to receive Certificates of Merit from the President of VNU.

At the ceremony, delegates and students also listened to the learning experiences of a typical young face, Ngo Thi Thuy Dung (K50 China - Faculty of Oriental Studies) and a report on the achievements in teaching and research of another typical young face, MSc. Pham Hoang Giang (lecturer of the Faculty of Philosophy).
