This year's THSV competition has 14 participating teams with over 50 performances. The award-winning performances this year are the rise of old voices and the rise of many new promising voices. Contestant Huyen Anh (Oriental Studies) won the first prize individually, which did not cause any big surprise because she had won second prize in the 6th THSV competition in 2006. Contestant Ngoc Quy (Tourism) won third prize this time, also won third prize in the 6th competition. The newest and most surprising to the judges was a brand new face Phuong Thao - a first-year student of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication. Phuong Thao's clear, high-pitched voice was shown in a brand new song -Lullabyby Vu Hong Viet - is considered one of the most memorable impressions of the contest. This contestant is considered to be a promising singer of the School in the upcoming contests. Other faces such as Thuy Duong (Faculty of Linguistics), Ngoc Minh (Faculty of Literature) are also names that, when stepping on stage for the first time, attracted the attention of the audience.

This year, the contest took place on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, so the teams chose to perform many songs about teachers and schools. Among them, the performanceDream rendezvousThe song was written by students of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication with the music by Thanh Cao, creating special emotions for the audience. The solo performance12 hoursThe performance of the Chinese contestant - Duc Lac (student of the Faculty of Linguistics) - attracted the audience's sympathy from a different angle. The lively rhythm, attractive performance style and "foreign" element of this contestant made the audience love it and the performance was rated as the most impressive of the competition.

However, besides the certain successes of the contest, many audiences said that the songs performed were not new, still heavily focused on traditional revolutionary songs and lacked the youthful, fresh atmosphere that is typical of the student style. Moreover, the unstable sound made many voices unable to show their full potential.
