1. Purpose and scope of the thesis
ButThe research objectives of this thesis are:
+ Develop a theoretical framework for narrative language, specifying the steps to approach narrative works.
+ To identify the characteristics of narrative language used by writers Nguyen Cong Hoan and Nam Cao, and from there to provide an initial assessment of the narrative language characteristics of Vietnamese Critical Realism literature from 1930 to 1945.
- Research subject of the thesis: The research subject of this thesis is the narrative methods in the critical realist short stories of Nguyen Cong Hoan and Nam Cao.
2. Research methods used
- The thesis employs the following research methods:
+ Discourse analysis methods are effective in analyzing and explaining the characteristics of narrative language from two approaches: linguistic and stylistic.
+Conversational analysis helps to clarify and explain the linguistic characteristics of dialogue and internal monologue.
ButIn addition, our thesis also uses several other techniques such as comparison, statistics, modification, etc.
3. Main results and conclusions
3.1. Main results
This dissertation presents, systematizes, and evaluates research achievements on narrative language; selectively applying these theoretical foundations and developing them into specific steps for analyzing narrative language. For the first time, the dissertation conducts an in-depth and systematic study of the narrative language of two writers, Nguyen Cong Hoan and Nam Cao, in comparison and correlation to gradually deduce the basic characteristics of Vietnamese classical literature from 1930 to 1945; contributing to the theoretical study of narrative language. The research results of this dissertation will contribute to the innovation of teaching the works of Nguyen Cong Hoan and Nam Cao in schools.
3.2. Conclusion
This dissertation scientifically and systematically analyzed the narrative techniques employed by Nguyen Cong Hoan and Nam Cao, specifically the characteristics of the narrator's voice in relation to the artistic point of view; the use of dialogue and internal monologue; and the modal means in the process of modalizing narrative language according to point of view. The research results allow us to affirm the artistic style and creative individuality of these writers. This is demonstrated as follows:
+ Writer Nguyen Cong Hoan often leans towards storytelling from an outside, objective point of view; the narrative language is heavily influenced by humor and satire.
+ Writer Nam Cao often leans towards storytelling from an internal, subjective point of view; the narrative language is strongly tragic and philosophical.

3. Major results and conclusions
3.1. The major results
The thesis presented, systematized and evaluated the results of research on narrative language; applied these theories in a selective way and developed them into specific steps to analyze the narrative language. For the first time, the thesis has studied in depth and scientifically the narrative language of writers Nguyen Cong Hoan and Nam Cao in correlation and comparison to gradually draw the basic characteristics of Vietnamese critical reality literature in 1930–1945 period; this supplemented to the theory of narrative language research. The research results of the thesis will contribute to renovating the teaching of the works of Nguyen Cong Hoan and Nam Cao in the schools.
3.2. Conclusions
The thesis analyzed scientifically and scientifically the ability to use the narrative method of Nguyen Cong Hoan and Nam Cao, namely the characteristics of the narrator in relation to the point of view of art; how to use dialogue, inner dialogue; The means of modality in the process of modalization of narrative language are based on point of view. Research results confirm the characteristics of artistic style and creative personality of the writers. This is shown as follows:
+ Nguyen Cong Hoan is inclined to narrative method from the outside pint of view, objectivity; his narrative language is deeply humorous and satirical.
+ Nam Cao is inclined to narrative method from the inside point of view, subjectivity; his narrative language is deeply tragic and philosophical.
