- The thesis systematically describes the means of expressing the moral modality of 'obligation' and 'permission' in English and Vietnamese commercial correspondence on three levels: syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic.

- The thesis has successively compared the aforementioned means of expression in order to find similarities and differences.

- Based on linguistic, cultural, and genre characteristics, the thesis has initially explained the similarities and differences mentioned above.

11. Practical applications:

- Compiling reference books for students studying Business Correspondence at universities in Vietnam.

- To support research, teaching, and the creation and reception of commercial correspondence in English and Vietnamese.

12. Future research directions:

This study examines the means of expressing moral and ethical sentiments in English and Vietnamese business correspondence from an intercultural perspective.

- The thesis has described in details all expressions of “obligatory” and “permissive” deontic modality in English and Vietnamese Commercial Correspondence from 3 aspects: syntax, semantics and pragmatics.

- The thesis has contrasted these expressions means to find out identify similarities and differences.

- The thesis has also briefly explained the similarities and differences based on the characteristics of linguistics, cultures and text types.

- Compiling supplementary materials for Vietnamese students who study Commercial correspondence at Vietnam's universities.

- Applying in studying, teaching, writing and analyzing Vietnamese and English commercial correspondences.
