2. Objectives of the training program

2.1. General Objectives

- The overall objective of the program is to train researchers and professionals in the field of foreign affairs who possess high levels of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the ability to conduct independent research, and the ability to identify and solve new problems related to foreign affairs.

2.2. Specific Objectives

- To provide systematic and advanced knowledge of international relations theory, fundamental issues of international relations in history and the present, global and regional issues, and global development trends;

- To provide systematic and advanced knowledge on the foreign policy guidelines of the Vietnamese Revolution, the history of Vietnam's foreign relations, especially during the Doi Moi (Renovation) period;

- To develop research methods for international issues and Vietnam's foreign policy issues, in order to draw lessons from experience and formulate predictions and recommendations;

- To enhance understanding and research skills in international issues, and to improve the ability to apply theory and methodology to the practical aspects of foreign affairs and international cooperation work of the country or agency;

- Capabilities can be developed in areas of international relations within central and local foreign affairs agencies, universities and research institutes, security and press agencies, cultural and service establishments, domestic and foreign businesses, etc.

3. Admission Information

- Entrance exam subjects

  • Basic Subjects Exam:History of International Relations.
  • Foundation subject exam:Vietnam's foreign relations from 1945 to the present.
  • Foreign Language:One of five languages: English, French, Russian, Chinese, or German.  

- Admission requirements

+ Diplomas/Certificates:

  • Hold a university degree in International Studies, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Or hold a university degree in the following fields: History, Philosophy, Economics, Law, Political Science, Asian Studies/Oriental Studies, Vietnamese Studies, Sociology, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Religious Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, External Communication, Public Policy, Social Work, ...afterhave acquired additional knowledge.(26 credits) to achieve a qualification equivalent to a bachelor's degree in International Studies;

+Professional work experience:

  • Individuals with a university degree in a field directly related to or relevant to the chosen major are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduation.
  • Individuals with a university degree in a related field must complete a supplementary course and obtain a certificate.
