Through research and surveys, this thesis will analyze the theoretical and practical issues of propaganda work on the sea and islands in the press of the Southwestern region of Vietnam, specifically Ca Mau Newspaper, Kien Giang Newspaper, Bac Lieu Newspaper, Ca Mau Radio and Television Station, Bac Lieu Radio and Television Station, and Kien Giang Radio and Television Station. From this analysis, it will propose solutions on how to maximize the power of media in promoting the economic development of the sea and islands in this region. It will also assess the current state of media communication on the marine and island economy in the Southwestern region. Based on the research results, the thesis will provide an overview of the role of current media propaganda on the sea and islands. It will also systematize the policies, guidelines, and directives of the Party and State regarding media agencies in disseminating information about the sea and islands. This thesis provides a theoretical basis to help leaders in Ca Mau, Kien Giang, and Bac Lieu provinces pay due attention to and develop more appropriate and effective media coverage of maritime and island issues in local newspapers.
Practical research shows that there is still a shortage of reporters and editors specializing in media coverage of the marine and island economy. Few media outlets assign reporters specifically to this field, instead having to handle multiple thematic areas simultaneously. One of the reasons is the lack of manpower, a common limitation of local media. Consequently, the content and forms of communication are not truly diverse or relevant to reality.
