PART I: GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO THE TRAINING PROGRAM

2. Objectives of the training program:

2.1. General Objectives

The research-oriented training program aims to cultivate highly qualified master's degree holders with in-depth knowledge of literary research, focusing on Vietnamese literature, foreign literature, folklore, and literary theory. They will possess advanced skills in disseminating research-based knowledge, discussing professional and scientific issues, and organizing professional activities related to literary studies. This will enable them to pursue doctoral studies in literature and meet job requirements at high schools, colleges, universities, research institutes, publishing houses, media organizations, government agencies, and organizations and projects in the fields of culture, literature, and art.

2.2. Specific Objectives

- Specific Objective 1(O 01): To complete in learners in-depth knowledge of literary research with research directions in Vietnamese literature, foreign literature, folk literature, and literary theory;

- Specific Objective 2(O 02): Develop in learners in-depth skills in research and professional practice such as communication, discussion, mastery of professional knowledge and organization of professional activities related to literary specialization;

- Specific Objective 3(O 03): To cultivate in learners an attitude of respect for the value of national and human literary and artistic heritage; a spirit of responsible, scientific, and cooperative work; an awareness of complying with professional ethical requirements, academic integrity, and respect for intellectual property rights in scientific research.

3. Admission Information

3.1. Admission method:Admission is based on the regulations of Hanoi National University.

3.2. Eligibility Criteria

3.2.1. Educational requirements

- Must have graduated from university (or have an equivalent qualification or higher), with a GPA of at least "Good" or higher, or have published scientific papers (books, textbooks, articles published in specialized scientific journals, or reports published in the proceedings of specialized scientific conferences or seminars) related to their field of study and research.

- If a candidate needs to take supplementary courses, they must complete those courses before registering for admission.

- University degrees awarded by foreign educational institutions must undergo the degree recognition procedure in accordance with current regulations.

3.2.2. Foreign language requirements

- Possess foreign language proficiency (in one of the following languages: English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, and Russian) meeting the requirements of the training program at level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam. Foreign language proficiency can be demonstrated by one of the following diplomas or certificates:

+ A university degree or higher in a foreign language; or a university degree or higher where the program is primarily conducted in a foreign language;

+ A university degree or higher awarded by Hanoi National University within the last two years, where the program's output meets the requirements of Level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam;

+ A foreign language certificate equivalent to level 3 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam; or an equivalent certificate issued within 2 years from the date of the foreign language exam to the date of registration for the master's program, issued by institutions recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi National University.

- Applicants who are foreign citizens and register for master's degree programs taught in Vietnamese must have a Vietnamese language proficiency level of 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners, or have graduated from a university (or equivalent qualification or higher) where the training program was taught in Vietnamese.

3.2.3. Other requirements

- Must have a clean personal record, not currently under disciplinary action at the level of a warning or higher, and not currently serving a criminal sentence, as confirmed by the human resources department of the current workplace or the local government where the individual resides.

- I am healthy enough to study.

- Meet other requirements of Hanoi National University.

3.3. List of suitable industries

- Literature, Language and Literature Education;

- The field of study is defined in the training program standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training;

- For cases where there are no established training program standards for the corresponding field or group of disciplines, the specialized unit must have a scientific and practical basis, determined by the Scientific and Training Council of the specialized unit and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to identify the discipline with the closest professional foundation to the training program and determine the corresponding supplementary courses (if needed); report to Hanoi National University before enrollment and be responsible for this professional evaluation.

3.4. Projected enrollment size

- According to the quotas granted annually by Hanoi National University (expected to be 25-30 students/year).

- The detailed admission plan is implemented according to the Admission Regulations, the annual postgraduate admission guidelines of Hanoi National University, and the admission scheme of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities approved by Hanoi National University (if any).

PART II: LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM

1. Knowledge Output Standards

- PLO 1:Analyze theoretical and practical issues in your professional field based on knowledge of philosophical worldview and methodology.

- PLO 2:The systematization of fundamental knowledge in literary research is based on the cultural approach to Vietnamese literature and the history of the development of literary criticism theories worldwide.

- PLO 3:The system connects knowledge across specialized fields in literary research, including aesthetic aspects and contemporary issues of Vietnamese literature, aesthetic characteristics, genre poetics in some world literatures, basic and comparative research methods in literature, modern and contemporary issues of folklore, and the relationship of folklore with literature.

- PLO 4:The systematization of research content belonging to specialized research areas includes:

+ In-depth study of Vietnamese literature: Identifying research content belonging to the in-depth study of Vietnamese literature, such as analyzing phenomena of Vietnamese literature from the medieval, modern to contemporary periods, including in-depth issues of genres, author types, poetics, aesthetic characteristics of Vietnamese literature… according to the laws of development in each stage of literary history; systematizing research methods with specific characteristics in the study of Vietnamese literature;

+ Specialized focus on foreign literature: Identifying research content belonging to the specialized focus on foreign literature, such as analyzing phenomena in world literature (including authors, groups of authors, trends, movements, schools, issues related to the artistic world of the works...) in the past and present; surveying and explaining phenomena and issues in different foreign literatures; comparing the literatures of countries and nations around the world with Vietnamese literature according to the theoretical criteria of the laws of literary development;

+ In-depth study of literary theory: Identifying research content belonging to the in-depth study of literary theory, such as updating and applying modern knowledge, methods, approaches, and theories to examine literary works and phenomena; pointing out the specific laws of literary development within textual, genre, cultural, and interdisciplinary frameworks;

+ Specialized Research in Folklore: Identify research content belonging to the specialized research direction of folklore, such as analyzing the basic issues of Vietnamese folklore, including in-depth issues of genre, poetics, interdisciplinary research directions, and their applicability in life; surveying and explaining the genres, phenomena, and issues of Vietnamese folklore in comparison with folklore of other literatures in the world; systematizing the specific research methods in the study of Vietnamese folklore.

- PLO 5:To be able to apply the meaning and value of basic research approaches, theories, and methods in social sciences and humanities; to identify the content that forms the overview of the research problem; to identify methods for constructing a research proposal; and to implement and deploy methods for presenting the research problem.

- PLO 6:Evaluate a research problem in the field of literature from a personal perspective based on a system of specialized and interdisciplinary research theories and methods; identify research problems that are novel, creative, and contribute to science and practice; present, discuss, and defend one's personal research viewpoint.

2. Skill Output Standards

- PLO 7:To evaluate and offer solutions to problems in Vietnamese and world literature in an objective and scientific manner.

- PLO 8:To impart knowledge based on research, discuss professional and scientific issues related to literature (teaching, presentations, research reports, conducting scientific projects, etc.).

- PLO 9:Organize activities related to literary expertise at the level of independent individual work or group work.

- PLO 10:Able to utilize information technology in professional and occupational activities.

- PLO 11:Achieve a foreign language proficiency level equivalent to level 4/6 according to the Vietnamese Foreign Language Proficiency Framework.

3. Output standards regarding autonomy and responsibility.

- PLO 12To be able to draw expert conclusions and guide others in carrying out professional activities related to literature.

- PLO 13:Improving professional practices in the field of literature demonstrates a spirit of responsible, scientific, and collaborative work; meeting ethical requirements, integrity, and respect for intellectual property rights in scientific research.

After graduating with a Master's degree in Literature, students are capable of directly participating in research and teaching activities, engaging in professional fields related to literature, culture, and art; or they can continue their studies at the doctoral level in specialized fields such as Vietnamese Literature, Foreign Literature, Literary Theory, and Folklore.
