The school's labor union had a successful year in many areas of activity, despite the Covid-19 pandemic significantly impacting the activities of union members and departmental unions.

Currently, the University's Trade Union has 520 members, including 13 professors, 89 associate professors, 168 PhDs, and 179 masters. Regarding the development of the teaching staff and educational management personnel, the Trade Union has closely coordinated with the administration in personnel planning and training, gradually standardizing the University's staff. These activities are becoming increasingly in-depth and closely aligned with the specific tasks of the University. In 2019, 47 teachers attended the senior lecturer training course, 47 lecturers received training in pedagogical skills and teaching methods, 123 staff members improved their foreign language skills, 54 staff members received training in management skills, 59 staff members received training in international publication skills, and 12 staff members received other professional training. In addition, many departmental trade unions organized professional seminars, and many union members voluntarily and proactively improved their professional skills and expertise.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Nam Hoang - the lead author of the project "Innovating the Creative Thinking and Idea Design course using a blended learning approach," which won the excellent prize in the "Innovation in Teaching and Learning Activities using a Blended Learning Approach" competition organized by the Center for Teaching Support - VNU Hanoi, shared her experience.
2020 was a turbulent year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In this context, the school's Trade Union actively and proactively disseminated government documents, the Ministry of Health's directives, and relevant ministries/agencies' information on Covid-19 prevention and control, encouraging union members to send text messages to support the campaign launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Ms. Doan Thi Thai, Standing Committee Member of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered a speech highly appreciating the achievements of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the 2019-2020 academic year.
Notable achievements include: Mobilizing union members to contribute funds and medical equipment for epidemic prevention and control, and distributing masks to epidemic prevention and control staff; Donating 40 million VND in cash to the Covid-19 epidemic prevention fund through the Hanoi National University Trade Union; Allocating 45 million VND to purchase gifts (equivalent to 250 gift packages) to support disadvantaged students of the University who are studying online and practicing social distancing in Hanoi; Organizing visits to encourage forces performing duties at the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control isolation area at the National Defense and Security Education Center, Hanoi National University, and donating dozens of boxes of instant noodles, fresh milk, hand sanitizer, etc. Joining hands with the Student Support Campaign Committee of the University to support disadvantaged students during the Covid-19 social distancing period, we mobilized 135 million VND in cash, 300 gift bags, 3.7 tons of rice, 512 boxes of instant noodles, 7,500 chicken eggs, 89 boxes of sausages, 1,320 face masks, and hundreds of boxes of various food items; We participated in packaging and distributing over 1,100 gift packages in two rounds to more than 600 disadvantaged students of the University in Hanoi and students of Hanoi National University at Me Tri Dormitory.

The activities of the University's Trade Union, in collaboration with the University during the Covid-19 pandemic, were highly appreciated by VTV, newspapers, and the public, contributing to building a humane image of the University and Hanoi National University in general.

At the Conference of Officials, Staff, and Public Employees for the 2019-2020 academic year, the School's Trade Union launched emulation movements for the 2019-2020 academic year, such as the campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh”, “Each lecturer is a scientist, a shining example for students to follow.", the emulation movementExcellent at schoolwork, capable at home.”, “Innovation in teaching and learning"actively responding to the campaign""Supporting education in mountainous areas, remote areas, and areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions."Actively implement the campaign "Innovation, creativity, and efficiency in the operation of trade union organizations.", continuing to launch the emulation movement "Building a civilized and courteous office environment." throughout the school; creating a ripple effect and motivating union members to be enthusiastic and active in their professional work as well as in the school's general activities.
The School's Trade Union organized one training course on trade union work combined with a year-end review; admitted 7 new union members, bringing the union membership rate to 99% of the total number of staff and workers in the unit; 8 outstanding union members were recommended for Party membership, and 12 union members participated in the Party membership orientation course.

According to the 2019-2020 academic year's ranking results, 21 out of 21 departmental trade unions successfully completed their assigned tasks, with 8 units achieving outstanding performance.

Regarding external relations, the University's Trade Union encourages and motivates departmental trade unions to organize field surveys and exchanges with other trade unions for its members, aiming to expand relationships and understanding, and create motivation for members to successfully complete their assigned tasks; actively and proactively participates in the activities of the cluster of 5 University Trade Unions, contributing to building and promoting the prestige, position, and effectiveness of the cluster of 5 University Trade Unions, including 2 universities under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

In addition to the above activities, the School's Trade Union also sponsored activities for the School's Retired Teachers' Association: supporting the Association in successfully organizing two field trips and surveys in Lang Son and Ha Nam.

To practically celebrate the 75th anniversary of the school's tradition, the 25th anniversary of its founding, and Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20th, the school's Trade Union is launching a competition.Humanistic ImpressionThe competition aimed to spread the positive values and traditions of the University through its various stages: Faculty of Literature - Hanoi University - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi. In just one month, the contest attracted dozens of articles, hundreds of photos and videos, with over 17,000 comments and shares on social media.

Attending the conference, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Rector in charge of the University, congratulated the University's Trade Union on its successes and expressed his hope that in the 2020-2021 academic year, the Trade Union's activities would continue to flourish and have more in-depth activities, helping to stabilize the morale, protect the legitimate rights and interests of employees, and contribute to strengthening the solidarity of the University's staff and faculty.
