During the 2023-2025 term, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), with the attention and guidance of the Trade Union of Hanoi National University, the Party Committee, the support and favorable conditions in all aspects from the University's Board of Directors and the leaders of various units, and the consensus, support and enthusiastic participation of departmental trade unions and union members, achieved outstanding results in all areas. Throughout the 2023-2025 period, the University's Trade Union was consistently recognized as a strong grassroots trade union, successfully completing its tasks.
Activities expressing gratitude, giving back, charity, and serving the community have always been a priority for the Trade Union Executive Committee, as well as receiving enthusiastic participation from a large number of union members. These are not only annual activities commemorating the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th, but are organized regularly, demonstrating the profound humanitarian spirit of the school's staff and union members.
"Drinking water, remember the source" – a precious tradition of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.In addition to doing a good job of taking care of the lives of its members within the University, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, during the 2023-2025 term, also successfully carried out social activities. Upholding the principle of remembering those who have contributed, the Trade Union annually organized many social and charitable activities, expressing gratitude and repaying kindness. On the occasion of July 27th, it organized a delegation of staff to visit and donate gifts to centers for the care of wounded soldiers, centers for the care of children affected by Agent Orange, and donated gifts to centers for the care of wounded and sick soldiers in Ninh Binh, Nghe An, and Quang Binh.
Every year on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th, the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, along with a large number of union members, organize a ceremony to offer incense at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs within the campus of the University of Natural Sciences. In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the union members of the University expressed their deep gratitude to the staff and students of Hanoi University who "put aside their studies to go to the front lines," many of whom bravely sacrificed their lives in the cause of defending the Fatherland. This is also an opportunity for the younger generation of the University to strengthen their pride in the tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to be more aware of their responsibility to uphold traditional values, and to actively contribute to the development of the University and the country.
On this occasion, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities also organized visits, gift-giving, and encouragement for war invalids, sick soldiers, and children affected by Agent Orange who are receiving treatment at centers for war veterans in provinces and cities nationwide.
A delegation from the University, led by Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - the Rector of the University, visited and presented gifts to express gratitude to wounded soldiers and meritorious individuals receiving treatment at the Nho Quan Rehabilitation Center for Wounded Soldiers, Ninh Binh province (July 2023).
During the "Returning to the Roots" journey – to the heroic land of Quang Binh and Quang Tri (in July 2024), after visiting the Quang Tri Citadel Cemetery – the resting place of national heroes who, at the young age of 18 or 20, "dedicated their youth to sowing freedom for the country," the delegation visited and presented gifts to severely wounded veterans with over 81% disability in Dong Hoi City. The delegation directly visited and presented gifts of gratitude to three severely wounded veterans; and also sent seven gift packages, each worth 1 million VND, to the Department of Labor and Social Affairs of Dong Hoi City for seven other wounded veterans in the city.

On July 27, 2025, the School's Trade Union also visited and presented gifts to wounded and sick soldiers at the Nghe An Rehabilitation Center for Wounded Soldiers - a place that cares for and treats 55 wounded and sick soldiers from the two provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh. The wounded and sick soldiers here come from many different regions, but they all share the commonality of being severely wounded or sick, with disability rates exceeding 81%. Some have lost both eyes, both legs, spinal cord injuries, head injuries, or complete paralysis…

The meaningful gifts and warm, heartfelt sentiments of the trade union members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities are a valuable source of encouragement for the wounded soldiers, helping them alleviate the pain of war-related injuries. They also show the soldiers that today's generation, living in peace, freedom, and independence, will forever remember and be grateful for the sacrifices of the soldiers of Uncle Ho's army.
Visiting and showing gratitude to wounded and sick soldiers is an annual activity of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, demonstrating the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," contributing to the education of revolutionary traditions for the younger generation, and affirming the responsibility and affection of the university's staff and students towards those who have contributed to the revolution.
The Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is ready to share, connect, and serve the community.Most union members actively participate in social and charitable activities, serving the community organized by unions at all levels, such as the movement to support flood victims in the mountainous areas of Northern and Central Vietnam, the education program in remote mountainous areas, etc. In particular, in 2023, the University's Trade Union, in coordination with the VIBE organization, donated 400 traditional Vietnamese dresses (áo dài) to new female students in difficult circumstances, and mobilized donations of supplies for 150 students in particularly difficult circumstances with a total cost of 88,340,000 VND; actively participated in the campaign "Accompanying VNU female staff in overcoming difficulties," donating 56,415,000 VND, and supporting flood victims with a total of over 550 million VND.

The prolonged storms in September 2024, caused by Super Typhoon Yagi, have inflicted heavy losses of life and property in the northern provinces. Through various means, faculty, staff, and workers throughout the university have implemented many practical activities to share the losses with the people of the North, including many faculty members, teachers, workers, and students in the provinces affected by the natural disaster.
Starting on September 10, 2024, the University's Trade Union launched a fundraising campaign among all staff and employees, with each person contributing at least one day's salary. The campaign received enthusiastic participation from all union members. Following the launch, the Trade Union received a total of 307,555,289 VND from staff and employees.
In 2025, union members throughout the University donated at least one day's salary each to support people in the northern provinces affected by floods, and received enthusiastic support from the University's union members.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University, Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh - President of the University's Trade Union, and several teachers presented a gift of gratitude to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
In addition, the University's Trade Union, together with the Trade Unions of 4 universities (Hanoi University of Science and Technology, National Economics University, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, and Hanoi University of Natural Sciences), annually organizes charitable social activities, supporting the construction of new classrooms, and donating gifts and materials to many schools in Nghe An and Lang Son provinces, such as: supporting the construction of boarding houses for students at Bac Ai I Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, Bac Ai village, De Tham commune, Trang Dinh district, Lang Son province, and Chiem Hoa High School, Tuyen Quang province (now Ha Giang).

It is evident that the collaborative activities and sharing with the community demonstrate the tradition of mutual support and humanity among the faculty, lecturers, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. These activities connect and spread the spirit of noble deeds, contributing to sharing and supporting teachers and students in disadvantaged areas, giving them more motivation to excel in their studies and work. At the same time, these activities educate and enhance the patriotic spirit, sharing, and mutual support among the university's students in particular and the younger generation nationwide in general.
