In the atmosphere leading up to the 80th anniversary of the tradition and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), and in preparation for the 32nd Congress of the University's Trade Union, term 2025-2030, the role of the Trade Union in nurturing and developing the staff and employees of the university is increasingly affirmed.
As of October 2025, the university's staff and employees number 507, including 6 Professors, 60 Associate Professors, and 280 PhD holders. This team is always committed to continuous learning to improve their professional skills and expertise, better meeting the demands of teaching and scientific research.
The university's labor union has consistently worked alongside the administration to foster an academic spirit, creating a solid foundation for the university's development towards becoming an advanced research university. The union has collaborated with the university on numerous activities aimed at enhancing the capacity of its staff, particularly in the context of deep international integration and rapid digital transformation.
Building digital research capabilities: Adapting to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In the context of the entire Party and people actively implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, and the education sector continuing to extensively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has identified the enhancement of professional capacity in the digital age as a central and continuous task.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is driving digital transformation in education, requiring trade unions to adapt and apply technology to improve the efficiency of membership management and activity organization. More importantly, this context demands that officials and employees possess higher levels of soft skills and creativity.
Recognizing this challenge, the university's labor union has proactively supported its members in mastering new technologies. A prime example is the training course "Applications of AI in Scientific Research: From Idea to International Journal," held in October 2025. This training course not only equipped participants with skills but also shaped a modern research mindset, helping faculty members become responsible and critical creators of knowledge using AI.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, the school's Rector, affirmed this strategic vision: "Artificial intelligence does not replace researchers, but expands their capabilities. Lecturers, if they know how to intelligently and responsibly utilize AI, will transform technology into a partner – helping scientific thinking become sharper, more systematic, and more effective."

Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, the school's Rector, emphasized that training lecturers in AI application skills is not just a trend, but a prerequisite for integration into the global academic space.
The Trade Union has demonstrated the pioneering role of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and has always accompanied the university in innovating scientific research methods towards modernization, aiming to build "digital research capacity" - a core quality of university lecturers in the AI era.
Creating academic forums and supporting professional development.During the 2023-2025 term, the University's Trade Union identified its important task as accompanying, unleashing the potential, and providing practical support to its members, especially young faculty and staff, on their path to professional and academic development. The Union organized five professional seminars related to professional activities, supporting members in improving their skills and qualifications. The topics were timely and practical, including: "Application of AI in teaching and research," "Improving the effectiveness of assessment," "Psychoanalysis in the study of History and Culture," etc.
These activities have created open and beneficial academic forums. More importantly, they provide an opportunity for each staff member and employee to self-assess and evaluate skills that need improvement, such as foreign languages, technology, and research methods. The school's labor union not only protects material rights but also serves as a "launching pad" to support its members in achieving the highest academic and professional accomplishments.

Multidimensional role: Women are the core of developing and building a strong organization. The development of high-quality human resources at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) cannot be achieved without the role of female staff and employees, who account for nearly 63% of the total staff. Women's affairs work has been reformed, focusing on helping female staff and employees balance work and family life while affirming their professional competence. During the 2023-2025 term, 98.5% of female staff and employees achieved the title of "Excellent at work - Competent at home" at the grassroots level. In particular, the mark of female union members in scientific research is increasingly prominent, demonstrated through leading many important projects and publishing prestigious scientific articles. Currently, 55 female staff and employees hold management positions in the Party, government, and union at the faculty and university levels. The goal for the 2025-2030 term continues to focus on building a team of professional, creative, skilled, and knowledgeable female trade union members who are actively involved in scientific research.
Furthermore, the Trade Union is also a core force in building the Party organization and training cadres. The school's Trade Union has recommended 20 outstanding members for Party membership during the 2023-2025 term, demonstrating its focus on developing a core team in both professional and political aspects.
Building "humanity" and the power of unity: the foundation of dedication. The school's trade union has done a good job of caring for the well-being of its staff and employees, creating a sense of security for them to dedicate themselves to their work. With the motto "Where there are staff and employees, there is a trade union," the school's trade union has proactively participated in developing important regulations such as the internal expenditure regulations and regulations on funeral and wedding arrangements, while also coordinating the organization of staff and employee conferences to understand their thoughts and aspirations. The trade union also ensures health welfare by organizing annual health check-ups for all staff and employees. Organizing collective activities provides opportunities for interaction and connection between employees and other organizations. The 2025-2030 term will continue to deeply embrace the action slogan "Innovation – Democracy – Unity – Development – Humanism." The spirit of "humanism" is not only demonstrated through charitable activities, but is also a core value in ensuring that technological achievements serve the goal of conveying humanistic values to the community. The trade union is truly an indispensable bridge between officials and employees, and between the trade union organization and the school, to successfully achieve the school's common goals and objectives.
Looking back at the achievements made and looking forward to the 32nd Congress of the University's Trade Union, it is clear that the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has become an indispensable "partner," a pioneering force in supporting the training and development of high-quality human resources for the university, building the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) into a leading training center in the country for social sciences and humanities.
