Overview of the July briefing meeting of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University) chaired the conference.
The conference heard Associate Professor Bui Thanh Nam present some of the achievements of training activities in June, with a focus on student recruitment and adjustments to training programs.
The school successfully organized the entrance exam for the 10th grade at the Specialized High School for Social Sciences and Humanities; completed the first phase of the 2023 master's and doctoral entrance exams; and received over 2800 applications for direct admission to regular university programs in 2023.
The acceptance of revised training programs under the new regulations of Hanoi National University has been conducted very urgently and seriously. During this revision, many master's degree programs have been integrated to facilitate student recruitment and training, maximizing the resources of the units. To date, the curriculum revision process has been largely completed on schedule, and training units are currently revising and finalizing the programs based on feedback from the Acceptance Council before submitting them to Hanoi National University.
Support and facilitation efforts to help students meet the foreign language proficiency requirements in time for graduation have been given special attention and have yielded good results. However, in the future, even stronger collaboration from training units, functional departments, the Youth Union, and the Student Association is needed to ensure that 100% of students studying at the university complete their graduation programs.
Representatives from participating units at the conference raised many points for discussion, including concerns regarding the timing of the implementation of the curriculum after adjustments according to the new regulations of Hanoi National University.
Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Thi Linh (Head of the Psychology Department) shared: Currently, postgraduate students of the 2022 cohort have basically completed the training modules and specialized topics, but the revised curriculum, which adds some new modules and applies them immediately to the 2022 cohort, is unreasonable and may affect the students' training progress. Therefore, the department proposes that the University should recommend to the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to start applying the new curriculum from the 2023 cohort onwards.

Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Cam Lan (Head of the Linguistics Department) shared her views at the briefing conference.
Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong shared: thanks to the close coordination between departments and units, the school's admissions work in the past month has been successful and achieved good results: the number of candidates registering for the entrance exam to the specialized high school and the number of applications for direct admission to regular universities have increased significantly. This shows that the school's training reputation has been enhanced, and the communication work has been effective in attracting the attention of students and society to the school's training programs.

The main task for the coming month is to do a good job in the regular university admissions process, ensuring both the enrollment targets are met and the quality of incoming students is improved; postgraduate admissions require even stronger communication to attract a large number of applicants.
Regarding the feedback from unit leaders, Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong fully understands the difficulties in postgraduate training due to recent curriculum adjustments. The School's Board of Directors acknowledges the feedback from unit leaders and will propose to Hanoi National University to consider and adjust the timing of the new curriculum implementation to be more appropriate.
However, while awaiting the official decision from VNU, for additional courses, training units need to proactively and flexibly organize and promote blended learning methods, providing maximum support for learners.
In addition, the content of supplementary modules on research overview or how to write a scientific paper is also very helpful for students when working on their thesis or graduation project.
Vice Rector Dao Thanh Truong shared information about the plan to work with experts from the Pher Foundation on the Ethics Committee and the implementation of summer courses in July and August.
Vice Rector Lai Quoc Khanh emphasized several key areas of administrative and general work for July.
Head of Planning and Finance Department Kim Thi Diep Ha noted several points regarding financial and accounting work in July, with a focus on establishing tuition fees for training programs based on economic and technical standards.
