To care for, represent, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of employees and workers.During the 2022-2023 academic year, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities effectively monitored the thoughts and feelings of its members, promptly addressing and resolving issues, and fostering consensus among staff and employees. Simultaneously, the Trade Union successfully disseminated and implemented the Party's guidelines and resolutions, as well as the State's and the Ministry's policies and laws, ensuring stable morale among its members.
The University's Trade Union has always received timely guidance from the Vietnam National University, Hanoi's Trade Union in its activities. The University's Party Committee has always paid close attention and provided thorough guidance, and the Board of Directors has actively coordinated and supported the University's Trade Union in all activities for the common goal of ensuring professional activities and stable income for the University's staff.
Faculty and employees trust the school's trade union organization and always show great interest in and support for the activities organized and initiated by the union.
Policies and benefits for union members are always ensured. The union organized periodic health check-ups for 434 officials, employees, and workers, participated in the development of the "Internal Spending Regulations," reviewed and awarded emulation titles at the end of the school year, and participated in the school's salary review council; it promptly inspected, monitored, proposed, and adjusted the implementation of all policies and salary regulations for union officials throughout the school. The number of officials and employees who received salary increases in 2022 was 160, including: 109 people receiving regular salary increases and 51 people receiving early salary increases.
Encouraging and facilitating union members to excel in teaching and scientific research, and to improve their qualifications through organizing seminars, such as the seminar "Strengthening the connection between research and international publications among faculty members".
Activities to innovate teaching methods continued with 114 contracts for innovative teaching and learning methods implemented. The number of lectures/curriculums approved was 23, including 11 lectures and 12 university curricula. The school organized many activities to support training in basic science disciplines through workshops, seminars, scholarships, and skills training for lecturers and students.
The scientific research and innovation activities of union members are comprehensive, aimed at serving the community, enhancing the research capacity of staff and students, and deepening international publications, targeting journals with high impact factors. The university's staff has published 15 monographs and textbooks, including 2 monographs published in English; 425 research papers in scientific journals; and 64 articles in international scientific journals and book chapters published by reputable international publishers.

Expressing his delight at the achievements of the University's Trade Union, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, assessed that the University's Trade Union has truly cared for and protected the rights and interests, created opportunities for professional development of each union member, and is also a shining example in caring for the cultural, artistic, and sports life of union members throughout the university. With the strength of gathering union members who are highly qualified scientists and educators, the trade union has made a positive contribution to the university's achievements in recent years. The University's Trade Union has 515 union members operating in 22 departmental unions, including 7 Professors, 59 Associate Professors, 208 Doctors, and 162 Masters. Associate Professor Lai Quoc Khanh believes that, with its rich tradition, operational experience, and especially the love and enthusiasm of the Trade Union Executive Committee and all union members, trade union activities will achieve many new accomplishments, and the strong development of the Trade Union organization will contribute to the sustainable development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Representing the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) Trade Union, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Lien, a member of the Executive Committee, congratulated the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on its achievements during the past academic year. As a core member of the VNU Trade Union, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has played a significant role and made substantial contributions to many activities of the VNU Trade Union. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Lien shared that the VNU-USSH Trade Union, with its outstanding members and the close attention and support of the university's Board of Directors and the leadership of the faculties/institutes, has implemented many activities effectively and with high quality, bringing many valuable benefits to its members.
Representatives of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Trade Union also proposed several tasks for the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in actively and effectively coordinating with the administration to carry out teaching and training support tasks of VNU-USSH in particular and VNU in general; focusing the highest level of intellectual effort to build a comprehensive plan of trade union activities for the new academic year. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Lien expressed confidence that, in the new academic year, the VNU-USSH Trade Union will leverage its role as a large trade union organization within VNU (in terms of number, scale, organizational structure, diversity of activities, rich traditions, etc.) to make proactive and creative contributions to the activities of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Innovate trade union activities to bring practical benefits to union members.In her speech at the conference, Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh - President of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - emphasized: This year is the first year of the University's Trade Union term, 2023-2028. The University's Trade Union hopes that its activities, in addition to following the plans of the higher-level trade union, will also closely adhere to the University's plan, accompanying the University to successfully achieve its targets and tasks. Therefore, activities need to be in-depth; they must be organized and implemented professionally and effectively. To achieve this, the human factor is crucial. With the policy of all trade union officials from the unit level to the University level participating in the specialized committees; members of the Executive Committee will participate as heads of committees; based on the specialized committees established in the 2017-2023 term, the Trade Union Executive Committee has adjusted and established 6 specialized committees to serve as the basis for effectively implementing tasks. To leverage the strengths and best utilize the talents of union members in the school, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union has invited union members with capabilities suitable to the tasks of each committee, who are rich in professional and technical experience, to participate in the specialized committees to create a combined strength in building collective movements and activities. Accordingly, the 6 specialized committees will cover the areas of the Trade Union's activities, including: the Organization and Emulation Committee; the Professional Committee; the Welfare Committee; the Culture and Sports Committee; the Women's Committee; and the Propaganda, Legal Policy and Communication Committee.

In the context of a reduction in the number of Executive Committee members and key positions, while still ensuring the quality of the Union's activities and the increasingly thoughtful care for union members, the Executive Committee has assigned its members to directly oversee units throughout the school and to form groups responsible for funeral and wedding arrangements. This allows union officials to support and collaborate in carrying out these tasks. This assignment ensures that each member of the Executive Committee is more closely involved with the departmental unions and promptly receives feedback from them. This task demands greater professionalism and proactiveness from union officials. (TS.)
