Dr. Dao Minh Quan - Deputy Head of the Training Department shared an overview of online teaching activities in the first semester. Accordingly, the University has deployed 1,345 classes on both online platforms LMS of VNU and UPM of the University, an increase of 300 classes compared to the previous semester. The Training Department deployed training for 23 classes on the use of online platforms for teaching and learning. In general, after 2 years of implementing online teaching, the team of teachers and students have used the UPM system stably and proficiently. In the context of the prolonged epidemic, training activities in the last semester were assessed as successful in both aspects: ensuring the health and safety of teachers and learners, while ensuring the progress of the curriculum and training quality.
The above success was achieved thanks to many reasons: the close and flexible direction in management, adapting to the actual situation of VNU, the Party Committee, and the School Board; the fluency and proficiency in online teaching and learning skills of teachers and learners, which have been gradually cultivated and improved over time; the team of professional and active management and technical staff supporting direct teaching; good facilities, technology, and technical platforms have effectively supported online teaching; the UPM platform supports convenient inspection and examination work...

Besides, online teaching still has some problems: maintaining two systems LMS and UPM in parallel makes it difficult for management, inspection and testing; organizing online exams with a large number of classes and students is not easy for organizers and managers; building a digital learning material base has not yet met the requirements for online teaching...
In the second semester, the number of courses in the whole school is 1,076 and is expected to run in parallel on the two online platforms LMS and UPM. Regarding teaching content, the Training Department and the Legal Inspection Department have coordinated to thoroughly disseminate specific content so that teachers can properly implement the regulations of VNU on online teaching. The management and training quality assurance work will continue to be carried out as in the first semester, on the basis of close coordination, in accordance with the functions and tasks between the parties, from department leaders, training assistants of units to functional departments that will supervise and support teachers in the teaching process.
Discussing the results of the inspection and examination of training activities, Mr. Dang Quang Thai, Deputy Head of the Legal Inspection Department, said: The inspection was conducted in accordance with regulations and recorded good results. Staff attended all classes, on time, and reported all breaks and make-up classes. During the recent inspection of VNU's postgraduate training activities, the University was recognized and highly appreciated by VNU for its efforts in managing and implementing online teaching... Regarding semester exams, from December 9 to January 4, the University organized exams via online platforms in the following forms: written exams, oral exams, multiple-choice exams, with 161 exam rooms, 61 exam shifts, 402 invigilators, supervisors, and technicians. From October 23 to 28, the University conducted its first online postgraduate entrance exam, which was well received by public opinion. In particular, the UPM online platform is considered effective and meets the requirements for teaching, especially providing good support for training inspection. Inspectors can easily check the status of classes, from information about subjects, subject content, announcements to content about learning materials, forums, exercises, exam rooms, etc.
At the end of the meeting, Vice President Lai Quoc Khanh spoke, affirming the successes of training in the first semester in many aspects. However, relevant units need to continue to discuss and find solutions to both maximize the advantages of technology for online teaching and ensure proper implementation according to the direction and regulations of VNU. The Vice President suggested that it is necessary to gradually standardize management and training activities after each semester to increase professionalism for the entire system, and soon have a study plan for the next semester. In particular, periodic surveys need to be deployed to evaluate the effectiveness of online platforms for teachers, learners, and managers; evaluate and compare the effectiveness of exam and test formats suitable for current conditions... as a basis for proposals to improve procedures, regulations and develop training plans for the next period. At the same time, functional units will continue to maintain training activities on the use of online platforms LMS and UPM for teachers and students; training on implementing teaching in accordance with the spirit of Decision No. 4318 (dated December 27, 2021) of the President of VNU. The Department of Politics and Student Affairs is assigned to update information and closely monitor the vaccination status of students in localities, proactively providing support plans for students when the actual situation changes.
