Dr. Pham Hoang Hung, Head of the Development Cooperation Department, briefly introduced the establishment process, training and research fields and strengths of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and happily shared: On January 29, Director of VNU Le Quan and Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had a meeting to welcome and work with the delegation of Tsinghua University (China) led by Professor Khuu Dung, Chairman of the University Council. The meeting was very friendly, open and achieved many good results: the two sides will sign a comprehensive cooperation MOU; increase student and lecturer exchanges between the two schools; grant scholarships to lecturers and students of VNU; and promote research on Marxism.

In that spirit, today the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is very pleased to welcome Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Triet and 10 students from the Institute of Marxist Studies, Tsinghua University to visit and work.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Philosophy, Dr. Pham Hoang Giang, Head of the Faculty, shared: The Faculty of Philosophy was established in 1976 and is one of the key faculties training in basic sciences at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. With a team of experienced and professionally competent experts, the Faculty of Philosophy is proud to always maintain its position as one of the leading units in training and researching philosophy in Vietnam. The Faculty has training systems at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels with specialized directions that are both academic and applied. In addition, the Faculty undertakes teaching general subjects such as Marxist-Leninist Philosophy, Scientific Socialism for all students of VNU and Philosophy (non-specialized for postgraduate students of VNU. In recent years, the Faculty has continued to promote training and research in specialized directions of Marxism, history of philosophy, etc. We have also actively built and expanded new majors applying philosophy in practical life such as philosophy of management at the undergraduate level, philosophy and cultural-religious management at the master's and doctoral levels to expand career opportunities for students, meeting the needs of the labor market.
In addition, the faculty is constantly expanding its cooperative relations with a number of universities and research institutes in Taiwan, Austria, Germany, and South Korea. Currently, the faculty cooperates closely with many universities in China: Nanning Normal University, Guangxi University, Nankai University, Chongqing University, etc. At the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, the Faculty of Philosophy also successfully organized a short-term course for graduate students from the Institute of Marxism of Nanning University (China).
The Faculty of Philosophy also has the capacity and experience to organize many national and international conferences with the participation of many leading scientists in Vietnam and many countries in the region and internationally. It is expected that in 2024, the Faculty will host a conference with the participation of scholars from Taiwan, Thailand, China, and the US on the topic: Gender Issues in East-West Comparative Studies. The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy shared information and hoped to have the participation of researchers, lecturers, and PhD students from Tsinghua University and the Institute of Marxist Studies.
Based on those strengths, Dr. Pham Hoang Giang proposed some specific cooperation: In the field of training (organizing short-term courses for students, trainees, joint training between the two schools), in scientific research (joint publication in the journals of the two schools and prestigious journals of Vietnam and China); organizing international conferences on issues related to Eastern philosophy, developing Marxist theory in the new context between Tsinghua University, Guangxi University, Nanning Normal University, China and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Head of the Faculty of Philosophy Pham Hoang Giang discussed specific contents on which the Faculty of Philosophy and the Institute of Marxist Research can cooperate effectively, promoting the strengths of both sides.
On behalf of the delegation of the Institute of Marxism, Tsinghua University, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Triet expressed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome and sharing of useful information from the representatives of the school and the Faculty of Philosophy. Based on the very effective and friendly cooperative relationship between the two schools over the past years, the goal of this delegation is to further strengthen the relationship, exchange key cooperation contents in 2024, at the same time, students of the Institute of Marxism have the opportunity to directly learn more about philosophy training activities in Vietnam and seek opportunities for exchange studies (undergraduate and graduate).
Tsinghua University representative expressed the desire to cooperate with the Faculty of Philosophy, VNU-USSH in training lecturers, students and trainees.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Hao, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Hung, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hanh highly appreciated the significance of the close cooperation between the two universities, between the Faculty of Philosophy and the Institute of Marxism, Tsinghua University, creating opportunities for students and trainees of the two universities to exchange and study abroad, expanding their knowledge; at the same time, coordinating to promote research on topics of mutual interest: research, study and application of Marxism in Vietnam and China, what are the similarities and differences; Chinese philosophical thought in the modern and contemporary period, etc.
At the meeting, students from the Institute of Marxism, Tsinghua University as well as students from the Faculty of Philosophy boldly and openly exchanged their questions and received detailed answers from lecturers of the Faculty of Philosophy and additional information about the undergraduate and postgraduate training majors of the Faculty of Philosophy, USSH, and some main research directions of lecturers in the Faculty.
At the end of the working session, the two sides agreed on specific cooperation contents to be implemented in 2024, assigned focal points to receive information and connect between the two units to ensure the plan is successfully implemented.
