Attending the reception were Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Rector) and representatives of the Department of Cooperation and Development, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Administration. On the side of Aix-Marseille University (France), there were Prof. Jean-François Marchi (Vice Director), Ms. Laure Gourdin (International Coordinator for Cooperation with Asia), Ms. Ciara Hailloux (Head of International Office).
At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong introduced the strengths of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in scientific research, collection, translation, and resource management. In addition, the university has training programs from Bachelor's and Master's levels in archival studies, digitization, and resource management. Therefore, the scope for cooperation between the two universities is very large.
Prof. Jean-François Marchi said: Aix-Marseille University is one of the research universities, known as a university training institution attracting the highest number of registered students in France. In 2014, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Aix-Marseille University signed a Framework Agreement. Representatives of the Departments of Archival Studies and Office Management, and Oriental Studies proposed a number of specific cooperation contents between the two schools: implementing a Master's training program in Archival Studies and Digitization; organizing field trips for officers of archives agencies in Vietnam to visit the Overseas Library in Marseille; co-organizing international conferences; implementing research projects for joint publication.
Dr. Pham Hoang Hung (Head of Cooperation and Development Department) shared information about the Summer Course program organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, which will be implemented from the summer of 2023 for international students to learn about Vietnamese culture, language, and history.
Representatives of Aix-Marseille University welcomed and agreed with the proposals of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and pledged to study and send specific cooperation plans as soon as possible. Regarding the Summer Course program, Aix-Marseille University will send students studying in Vietnam to participate in order to both improve their understanding of Vietnamese and learn about Vietnam's cultural and historical traditions.
