Receiving and working with the delegation of Hong Kong Polytechnic University

On July 26, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) had a meeting and worked with Mr. Benjamin Hok Bun KU - Director of the Peking U-Hong Kong PolyU China Social Research Center and Global Development Network, Head of the Social Work PhD Program at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences, Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Also attending the reception were Dr. Dang Kim Khanh Ly (Head of Sociology Department) and lecturers in the Department.
Speaking at the reception, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong was very pleased to welcome representatives of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to visit the school and give an overview of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Faculty of Sociology, and the Department of Social Work. Currently, the Social Work industry in Vietnam is developing strongly. Every year, the Department of Social Work of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities attracts the attention of society and is often in the top of the majors with the highest university entrance scores. The training program on Social Work of the University also regularly changes, adjusts, and improves to meet social needs. We very much welcome the establishment of a cooperative relationship, it can be said that the room for cooperation between the two Universities, as well as the two Faculties, is very large: building training programs, exchanging students and lecturers, organizing international seminars, scientific research, awarding scholarships, etc.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong and Mr. Benjamin Hok Bun KU discussed possible cooperation between the two units.
During the meeting, Mr. Benjamin Hok Bun KU shared: Hong Kong Polytechnic University has cooperation projects with universities around the world through cooperation agreements between the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) and the Vietnam Association for Vocational Education and Social Work. The activity is called "'Strengthening social work training capacity through short-term training in Vietnam".
The goal of these cooperation programs is to provide knowledge and skills in improving social work training capacity for Vietnam. Activities include 6 monthly online sharing sessions on social work topics such as mental health, social work in the judicial field, interdisciplinary cooperation in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic...; both online and offline training courses. The program is expected to have 3 online courses on Building social work training programs, social work in mental health care; social work in the judicial field; 1 offline course on Social Work Research and Practice held in Ho Chi Minh City and in Hanoi at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Participants in these activities are cadres, lecturers, and social work practitioners in Vietnam and some ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Representatives of the Faculty of Sociology provided further information about the plan to organize an international conference on Social Work Training and Social Development (scheduled for February 2023). The two sides discussed specific contents and steps to prepare for this conference.
On behalf of the University Board of Directors, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong thanked Mr. Benjamin Hok Bun KU for sharing valuable information about the activities of Hong Kong Polytechnic University related to the Social Work sector and at the same time welcomed the initiative of the Faculty of Sociology in proposing and implementing cooperative activities. Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong also suggested that the two sides should have more specific discussions and prepare urgently so that the international conference scheduled to be held in February next year can take place in accordance with regulations and be successful.
