Opportunities for the young generation of Vietnam to contribute and shape the future of the country ![]() In the program, Professor Klaus Schwab shared an overview of the forces shaping the world, with many more complex and changing factors, bringing both challenges and opportunities to all countries, including Vietnam. These include: the transition from a stable global order to a multipolar world, with frequent conflicts; the transition from the industrial age to the smart age; and increasing polarization in society. The WEF President emphasized that young people are the future of Vietnam and the changes discussed are the factors that will shape their careers, opportunities and lives. The smart age is not just an abstract concept; it is a reality in which young people in Vietnam will live, work and study. Professor Klaus Schwab also offered suggestions for Vietnam to seize the opportunities ahead to create a prosperous, sustainable and inclusive future. Through initiatives such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution Hub, WEF is working to provide the resources and connections needed for countries like Vietnam to develop innovation hubs, invest in digital infrastructure and prepare the workforce to adapt to the challenges ahead. Professor Klaus Schwab shared that the necessary factors in a smart era are: digital infrastructure, human resources, business ecosystem, public-private partnership, integration and global cooperation. In addition to technology, the real opportunity still lies in the human factor. According to the Professor, Vietnam's real advantage will depend on building a knowledge-based economy, which includes not only skills and professional capacity but also environmental, social and geopolitical advantages - all of which are important factors for a prosperous and inclusive society. Professor Klaus Schwab also highly appreciated the plan and vision of the Government and Prime Minister of Vietnam in developing the economy and society in an inclusive manner, leaving no one behind; and expressed optimism about the great opportunities for the young generation of Vietnam in contributing to and shaping the future of the country. The intelligent era must be an era of development for people. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed the dialogue as a testament to the results of the increasingly close, close and vibrant relationship between Vietnam and WEF; most recently, WEF supported Vietnam in building the Fourth Industrial Revolution Center in Ho Chi Minh City, the second center in the WEF network in Southeast Asia. The Prime Minister highly appreciated and thanked Professor Klaus Schwab for his profound and meaningful sharing, his affection for Vietnam and his guidance for the young generation of Vietnam at the dialogue, creating motivation and inspiration for the young generation of Vietnam. The Prime Minister said that the strategic vision of the Professor and of the WEF has been affirmed by the world in more than 50 years of WEF development and is increasingly affirmed in capturing new global trends and proposing solutions for the future. As President of WEF for more than 50 consecutive years, the Professor has led WEF to pursue a multilateral, multi-dimensional, public-private partnership, and multi-stakeholder approach, contributing to solving many global issues in many aspects. In terms of representation, WEF has become a forum that brings together governments, businesses, schools, innovators and startups in all fields. In terms of connectivity, WEF conferences are an opportunity for the international community to promote cooperation, international solidarity and promote cooperation ideas. WEF also promotes pioneering, creating transformation (such as the network of Centers on the Industrial Revolution 4.0; public-private partnership initiatives in various fields...). Speaking about the theme for the upcoming 2025 WEF Davos Conference in Davos, Switzerland, "Shaping the Smart Era", the Prime Minister assessed that this is a content of the times, an issue that the world must study, adapt to and master; he agreed with the Professor on the inclusive, comprehensive approach, reflecting the development trend of the new era when mentioning the "smart era". According to the Prime Minister, intelligence is not simply the explosive development of new technology but also connects and resonates in many other broad aspects. From the economic aspect, intelligence must truly transform into productivity improvements, becoming a new growth driver of the economy, as well as promoting efficiency in distribution. From the social aspect, intelligence must make society more equal, freer, more inclusive, people increasingly prosperous, happy, no one is left behind. From the environmental aspect, intelligence must go hand in hand with efficient use of energy, sustainable development of economies. From the geopolitical aspect, intelligence must promote peace, cooperation and development, must prevent conflicts, confrontations, divisions, put the past behind, exploit common points, and look towards the future. "I think the intelligent era must be an era of development for people, serving people, taking people as the center and the subject,"The Prime Minister said. Analysis of the challenges and opportunities of developing countries, including Vietnam in this context, the Prime Minister said that sustainable and inclusive development based on the application of modern science and technology, strongly promoting startups and innovation is an inevitable trend, an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority of the world today. Science, technology, innovation and sustainable development are global issues that affect all people, all aspects, all human activities and all countries. Therefore, it is necessary to promote multilateralism and international solidarity to promote and enable all people to benefit from the achievements of science, technology, innovation and the smart era. The Prime Minister pointed out three major challenges for Vietnam: Technology gap, infrastructure shortage; limited economic scale and resources, the country is developing, the economy is transforming; climate change, natural disasters are increasingly complex and unpredictable, threatening food security - water resources - energy. Besides, there are also opportunities for developing countries, including Vietnam, such as the opportunity for latecomers (having the conditions to go straight to the latest technologies and solutions); young, abundant human resources, including the important role and contribution of students and young people; international cooperation and multilateralism are irreversible trends. The Prime Minister noted that in addition to general policies that create equal opportunities for everyone, there must be specific policies, especially for disadvantaged groups and areas with difficult conditions, ensuring no power shortages or signal dips, promoting the spirit of sharing, supporting and helping each other, thereby shortening the gap between groups and regions, leaving no one behind in the smart era. Emphasizing the role of the young generation in the smart era, the Prime Minister recalled the saying of beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "A year begins in spring. A life begins in youth.
