VNU-USSH and Xiazhou Academy (China) signed a cooperation agreement in training and scientific research.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) warmly welcomed the delegation of Ha Chau Academy (province, Guangxi, China) led by Professor, Vice Rector Jiang Hong Xing.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam gave an overview of the 80-year history and 30 years of establishment of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and shared about the organizational structure, team of scientists, lecturers, and the strengths of the University: “The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is proud to be one of the leading units in Vietnam in undergraduate and postgraduate training; scientific research and policy consulting for the Party, Government, ministries, branches, and localities in the fields of education, culture, social policy, management science, and innovation. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities currently has cooperative relations with more than 200 partners around the world, including many leading universities and research institutes in China, in exchanging lecturers and students, coordinating research, and publishing internationally on topics of mutual interest. In 2015-2017, VNU-USSH successfully organized 2 delegations More than 100 students from the Faculty of Linguistics and the Department of Chinese Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies) came to Ha Chau Academy for academic exchange.
Every year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities attracts nearly 1,000 foreign students to study and exchange, of which Chinese students account for a large number. Based on that strength and experience, we hope that in the coming time, the two sides will strengthen cooperation to exchange and share experiences in training and research in a number of fields: journalism, communications, tourism, and languages.
Representing the delegation of Ha Chau Academy, Prof. Tuong Hong Tinh expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and affection of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the delegation, and admired the long history and impressive achievements of the University in many fields: training talents and scientific research.
Professor Tuong Hong Tinh added: “Hai Chau Academy has 44 undergraduate majors and 14 vocational college majors, a number of master’s majors, some of which are the Academy’s strengths and coincide with the majors that the USSH is training: journalism and communication, tourism management and languages. We have many foreign language training programs (Chinese for about 3 months - 6 months) for international students and also want to send our students to study Vietnamese and Vietnamese culture at the USSH. Ha Chau Academy also has many scholarship programs to support international students studying at the school, including tuition and living expenses. Therefore, in the coming school year, we are very pleased to welcome lecturers and students from the USSH to exchange, exchange academic knowledge and cooperate in research projects of Ha Chau Academy”.
Speaking at the meeting, MSc. Luong Ngoc Vinh (Deputy Head of Cooperation and Development Department) welcomed the proposal of exchanging lecturers and students between the two schools in studying foreign languages ​​and improving professional qualifications. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has experience in organizing internship and academic exchange programs for students at many universities in China (duration from 2 weeks to 1 month).
In addition, in recent times, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and its Chinese partners have effectively implemented many cooperative activities in training experts and scientific research. Many scientists and leaders of Vietnamese language and culture institutes/faculties at leading universities (such as Guangxi University for Nationalities, Guangxi University of Science and Technology, Guangxi Academy of Foreign Languages, etc.) are former graduate students of the Faculty of Linguistics, VNU-USSH.
Concluding the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam emphasized: “The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is pleased to welcome the delegation of Ha Chau Academy to visit the school during their working trip to Vietnam and share a lot of useful information. The two sides had an open and friendly exchange and proposed many highly feasible cooperation contents, promoting the strengths of both units. Immediately after the meeting, the two sides will sign an MOU as a legal basis for specific activities in the coming time.”
The representative of the delegation of Ha Chau Academy completely agreed with the discussed cooperation content and affirmed that they would send a focal point to closely coordinate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities so that the two sides could sign the MOU as soon as possible.
