This morning, September 23, 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) had the honor of welcoming Mr. Kim Gheewhan - President of the Korea Foundation (KF) and his delegation for a working visit.
At the reception, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, the Rector of the university, expressed his gratitude for the sentiments that Mr. Kim Gheewhan and the Korea Foundation have shown towards the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as its lecturers, scientists, and students.
The school hopes to continue receiving KF's support in promoting Korean studies as well as the social sciences and humanities.

Expressing confidence in the effective cooperation between the Korea Foundation and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Kim Gheewhan, President of the KF, emphasized that, as a leading research and training center in Vietnam in the field of social sciences and humanities, VNU-USSH has made significant contributions to Korean studies education in Vietnam, helping to promote friendly cooperation between the two countries. At VNU-USSH, students majoring in Korean Studies receive in-depth training not only in language but also in culture, history, economics, national character, and other aspects of Korean culture. This is also a strength of the university's scientists and students.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in Korean language and culture training and other fields in various countries around the world, diversifying Korean studies training programs, with KF acting as a bridge between VNU-USSH and prestigious international universities.
Representatives from both institutions also agreed to strengthen support activities for lecturers and students of Korean Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in their studies and scientific research, organize academic exchange and cultural exchange workshops, and widely implement new learning methods such as E-school and STEM.
Mr. Kim Gheewhan, Chairman of the Korea Foundation for International Exchange, discussed future cooperation initiatives between the KF Foundation and VNU-USSH.
Previously, during a meeting between representatives of the Korea Foundation and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in August 2024, KF emphasized its priority in strengthening the team of Korean studies experts in Korean culture and language training at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, continuing cooperation to improve the facilities of lecture halls and Korean studies rooms of the University, supporting the publication of scientific publications and organizing events on Korean culture at VNU-USSH.
Dr. Le Thi Thu Giang - Head of the Department of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, shared opportunities for cooperation in postgraduate training between VNU-USSH and the network of KF organizations worldwide.
Dr. Luu Tuan Anh - Head of the Korean Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, shared his views at the working session.
With over 30 years of cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea, the South Korean government and organizations have provided significant support and assistance in Vietnam's education sector. With the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the South Korean government and organizations, especially the KF-Samsung Scholarship Fund, have maintained a comprehensive cooperative relationship across all areas, including support for building facilities to support teaching and learning for VNU-USSH faculty and students, and collaboratively organizing workshops that have yielded many positive results for students.
Notably, KF-Samsung has awarded valuable scholarships to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, creating opportunities for them to develop their personal abilities and excel in their studies. In 2023, KF-Samsung awarded 15 scholarships to full-time students majoring in Korean Studies at the university, each scholarship worth $250.
Representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the Korea Foundation expressed confidence that the collaborative relationship between the two institutions would yield many positive results.

The Korea Foundation (KF; Korean: 한국국제교류재단; Hanja: 韓國國際交流財團) is a non-profit public diplomacy organization established in 1991 to promote a deeper understanding of Korea and strengthen friendship within the international community. The Foundation undertakes numerous exchange projects between Korea and foreign countries to foster mutual understanding.
The Foundation's areas of cooperation and funding include: supporting Korean language teaching, implementing exchange programs for leaders and youth, organizing and supporting various performances and exhibitions showcasing Korean culture and art, supporting the publication of books related to Korea in foreign languages, and collecting materials related to Korea and multimedia content from universities, libraries, and research institutes worldwide.
