Vietnam and China promote cooperation in higher education of journalism and communication

Overview of the China-Vietnam Journalism and Media Higher Education Dialogue Forum.

This is one of the opinions raised at the China-Vietnam Journalism and Media Higher Education Dialogue Forum organized by the Communication University of China on the afternoon of September 25 in Beijing, China.

Representatives of nearly 30 universities and academies from the two countries such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Academy of Journalism and Communication; Diplomatic Academy, Hue University... of Vietnam and Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Ningxia University, Wuhan University... of China attended.

The forum includes two roundtable dialogue sessions with the topics "People-to-people exchange and prospects for cooperation in journalism and media education" and "Exchanging experiences in building the journalism and media industry and training human resources".

Ms. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, spoke at the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi emphasized: “The training of journalism and communication is currently facing many opportunities and challenges. The development of an information society is an inevitable trend of modern society with the formation of a new public - the digital generation public. Therefore, journalism training institutions must strive to transform their thinking, methods, and training methods to supplement human resources such as young journalists with formal, systematic, multi-skilled training, who can meet the requirements of the multi-platform, multimedia journalism and communication technology industry.”
 

At the dialogue sessions, delegates discussed many topics such as promoting people-to-people exchanges, implementing cooperation in journalism and media education, academic exchanges, sharing experiences in building the journalism and media industry and training human resources between Vietnam and China...

The two sides emphasized the need to implement a dialogue and exchange mechanism in various forms such as organizing workshops and forums to develop long-term and sustainable cooperation; promoting the implementation of specific cooperation programs; sharing joint scientific research results in journals, books and newspapers; and building academic data sources for joint research programs.

In addition, the two sides also proposed to promote the exchange of teaching and learning skills for lecturers and students; exchange scholars and lecturers to jointly promote human resource training; diversify joint training forms, open new majors with orientation and leadership...

Mr. Hoang Dien Lam, Secretary General of the International Communication Research Institute, Communication University of China, answered the interview.

In an interview with a Vietnamese reporter based in China, Mr. Hoang Dien Lam, Secretary General of the International Media Research Institute, Communication University of China, said: “It can be said that this is the first time that universities and academies of the two countries have organized a large-scale exchange activity on higher education in journalism and communication. This forum is an opportunity for the two sides to exchange and understand each other better, thereby enhancing cooperation in the fields of human resource training, scientific research, and promoting exchanges between lecturers and students of the two countries.”
