On behalf of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong warmly welcomed the delegation of Hainan University led by Mr. He Yong (Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of Hainan University) to visit and work with the University, and affirmed that universities in China in general and Hainan in particular are important partners and have effective cooperation, bringing many practical values to lecturers and students of VNU-USSH.
Vice President Dang Thi Thu Huong added: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is constantly innovating its training programs in the direction of interdisciplinary, international integration and has a mechanism for training cooperation and credit exchange with foreign partners. We are ready to welcome students from Hainan University to study training programs in English or Vietnamese. At the same time, we hope that Dai Nam University will accept students from VNU-USSH to study. After they complete their study program, the two schools will recognize and convert credits for equivalent courses. In addition, with experience in organizing many research projects, international scientific conferences, and a team of leading experts in many fields, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities also wishes to expand cooperation with Hainan University in promoting research on topics of mutual interest.

Mr. He Yong thanked the USSH for the warm welcome and shared: This is the first time I have visited and worked with the University, but I have learned about and greatly admired the long tradition, brand and achievements that VNU-USSH has achieved over the years. As a leading university in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities, a core unit of VNU, in addition to traditional and academic majors, the University has developed many new majors with high applicability, keeping up with the changing trends of the world in the context of digital transformation.
Sharing about the strategic goals of Dai Nam University, Mr. He Yong said: “Hainan University was established in 1957, currently has 29 faculties, 76 bachelor's programs, 18 doctoral majors with more than 45,000 students studying. Every year, we offer many types of scholarships for international students: Confucius Institute Scholarship CIS (International Chinese Language Education and Related Majors) and Chinese Government Scholarship CSC (with free tuition, dormitory, health insurance, living expenses of about 2,500-3,500 yuan/month depending on the study program); Hainan Provincial Scholarship,... With the goal of becoming a center for training high-quality human resources, research and innovation, the internationalization strategy, expanding cooperation with leading schools in countries in the region is of great interest to the leadership. With similarities in many majors and training majors, we hope to promote cooperation with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in exchange of students and lecturers; training of talents and high-quality human resources; scientific research on common topics".
Also at the meeting, the representative of Hainan University shared information about the Alliance of Tropical Universities initiated by Hainan University, which currently has 47 participating universities around the world, with the goal of linking research facilities and universities to promote talent training activities, implement research projects on global issues, and on that basis propose solutions to contribute to the stability and development of countries and regions.
Mr. He Yong invited the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to participate in the Annual Forum of the Alliance of Tropical Universities in 2025.
Deputy Head of the Faculty of Philosophy, Dr. Tran Thi Dieu also discussed the strengths of the Faculty of Philosophy, experience in implementing many training and research cooperation programs with many partners in China. “We hope that in the coming time, Hainan University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will promote cooperation in implementing short-term courses for staff, lecturers, and students as well as coordinating the organization of seminars on Marxism, philosophy of other countries, Chinese philosophy, etc.,” Dr. Tran Thi Dieu expressed.
Dr. Tran Thi Dieu discussed some training and scientific research activities in the field of philosophy, which could help both sides strengthen cooperation in the future.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed:
- Review the content and complete the continued signing of the MOU as a legal basis for future cooperation.
- Exchange lecturers and students, organize short-term training courses and credit recognition between the two schools.
- Implement research projects, co-organize scientific seminars on topics of mutual interest.
- Cooperate and support scientists in publishing and international publication.
