Principal Hoang Anh Tuan presents a souvenir to Ambassador Sandeep Arya
Also attending the meeting were Dr. Monica Sharma, Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Hanoi, leaders and lecturers of the School's History and Oriental Studies Departments.
The content of the meeting revolved around the prospects of cooperation with the spirit of mutual development. The Embassy of India pledged to increase support for training and scientific research activities of lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. VNU-USSH pledged to support Indian researchers and students to come to the University for exchange study and research.
At the end of the working session, the two sides agreed on the following 5 specific cooperation directions:
Firstly, the Indian Embassy supported two young experts from VNU-USSH to go to India for postgraduate studies in the ancient languages of Pali and Sanskrit, with the goal of training a source of experts in these important ancient languages in translating, annotating and researching the history of Champa and Phu Nam in Central and Southern Vietnam.
Indian Embassy staff regularly visit, work and introduce scholarship opportunities for students of the University in general and Oriental Studies in particular.
Second, the Indian Embassy will arrange for an Indian professor to teach at least one year at VNU-USSH in the fields of Indian history, civilization, and ancient languages.
Third, the two sides support Indian students to do internships and earn credits at VNU-USSH, as well as VNU-USSH students to do internships at Indian universities. This is a practical activity to promote academic exchanges between lecturers and students from both sides.
Fourth, the two sides jointly organized a workshop on the historical Champa Kingdom in Central Vietnam. This activity is the first step to lay the foundation for the orientation of building an Information Center for the My Son relic complex.
Fifth, at an appropriate time, Ambassador Sandeep Arya will visit VNU-USSH and give a talk to lecturers and students majoring in Indian Studies. This will be a great encouragement to the staff and students of the department.
Oriental Studies (Indic Studies) students performed Indian dances on the occasion of Deputy Ambassador SPGupta's visit to the School and his talk with the students.
The Ambassador hopes that the specific cooperation between the two sides in the coming time will contribute to promoting and deepening diplomatic activities between Vietnam and India in the early years of the second 50-year journey, while also continuing the tradition of cultural exchange that began more than two thousand years ago.
