Many challenges remain.
ButProfessor, we cannot deny the benefits that Artificial Intelligence in general, including ChatGPT, can bring to teaching and learning in Vietnam. In your opinion, what are the fundamental benefits that ChatGPT offers?
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan:Artificial intelligence offers numerous benefits to teaching, learning, and scientific research, such as: increasing the speed of information retrieval. Artificial intelligence can help teachers and students easily search for and access learning resources quickly and efficiently.
Artificial intelligence can help teachers and students automate tedious tasks and focus on learning about more important topics.
Artificial intelligence can help learners solve problems they encounter during their studies; providing suggestions and solutions to the problems they need to solve;
Artificial intelligence can provide accurate and up-to-date answers to students' or teachers' questions throughout the learning or teaching process, provided, of course, that the input data for the AI is up-to-date and properly filtered.
However, it should also be noted that artificial intelligence and similar tools cannot completely replace natural human thinking.
The overuse of artificial intelligence and similar tools can diminish students' ability to think for themselves and learn independently. Therefore, learners need to use artificial intelligence and similar tools in a balanced and cautious manner.

ButProfessor, the challenges to education under the impact of the artificial intelligence boom and ChatGPT are also considerable, aren't they?
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan:That's right! The explosion of artificial intelligence and ChatGPT has led to many challenges such asSOver-reliance on technology can diminish creativity and self-learning abilities in students. Currently, there's a phenomenon where students are searching for answers to their assignments on the internet instead of thinking for solutions themselves.
Another major challenge of using artificial intelligence in education is ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information provided. If the input information is intentionally manipulated, AI may provide inaccurate answers.
When using artificial intelligence in education, it is essential to ensure that learners' personal information is kept confidential and secure. Personal information can easily be exploited for malicious purposes.
Students' dependence on technology can naturally diminish their ability to learn and teach, and reduce their motivation to learn.
Technology can create competition between technology and teachers; learners may choose to use technology instead of learning with teachers. Teachers must shift their role to that of a facilitator and initiator of creativity, rather than simply providing information.
I think, Artificial intelligence and ChatGPT can make teaching and learning easier, but they can also create limitations in education if we are not careful and attentive to the interaction between humans and technology.
Limitations may include a lack of choice and control over content (using pre-provided content); a lack of direct interaction, limited opportunities for direct interaction, and a lack of motivation to learn; gaps in knowledge due to reliance on provided resources; and learners' dependence on technology.

Teachers need to improve their teaching skills in order to effectively utilize AI-powered tools and ChatGPT.
Technology skills are required.
-In your opinion, what preparations should we make so that educational activities can take advantage of the benefits of artificial intelligence applications while minimizing the risks?
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan:In my opinion, one of the skills we need to acquire to mitigate risks is technology skills. Teachers and education administrators need to learn how to use new technologies, including artificial intelligence and ChatGPT, to leverage their benefits in teaching and learning.
Teachers need to improve their teaching skills in order to effectively utilize AI-powered tools and ChatGPT.
Students need to improve their critical thinking skills so they can analyze and identify accurate and useful information sources from artificial intelligence and ChatGPT.
Education administrators need to develop integrated learning models. Furthermore, preparing policies and regulations for the use of artificial intelligence and similar tools is crucial. This will help mitigate information security risks and address issues related to privacy and the protection of personal information.
Support and investment from regulatory bodies and relevant organizations are needed to help the education sector leverage the benefits of artificial intelligence and similar tools.
The role of a teacher is irreplaceable.
ButSo, Professor, what will be the role and position of the teacher in an education system that incorporates artificial intelligence and chatbots?
Professor Hoang Anh TuanDuring the panel discussion, I quoted Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son's opening remarks to affirm that the role of the teacher is irreplaceable, but teachers will have to undergo radical changes to adapt to the context of education increasingly supported by AI and other supplementary technologies.
In reality, innovation in teaching, especially innovation that enhances the technologization of teaching activities, is a very natural attribute of modern education. In the context of the rapid development of educational technology today, the pressure for innovation on teachers is even stronger.
For many years now, teachers have had to shift their role from knowledge transmitters (teacher, lecturer) to learning guides (instructor, facilitator). In the face of the era of vast resources – open data and intelligent tools like artificial intelligence – I believe teachers must be even more proactive and decisive in transforming themselves from "teaching" to "guiding." Without change, teachers will be left behind.
Thank you very much, Professor!
