The 3rd International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities

On December 16, 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) organized an international scientific conference on social sciences and humanities issues. This is the third consecutive year the conference has been held, following the success of two conferences in 2022 and 2023 with the goal of enhancing the international publication capacity of graduate students and young staff.
The workshop was attended by teachers from the Board of Directors, many lecturers and scientists from training units in the school. In addition, the workshop was honored to have the presence of Prof. Dr. Detlef Werner Briesen from Justus-Liebig University, Germany.

The workshop attracted the attention of many postgraduate students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as many schools in VNU. The Organizing Committee of the Workshop received a total of 140 full-text reports, focusing on the following contents: Theoretical and practical issues of social sciences and humanities (history, philosophy, religion, education, culture, language, communication, sociology, psychology, politics, etc.) in sustainable development in Vietnam and other countries; Policy suggestions on promoting the role of social sciences and humanities in the context of globalization and strong digital transformation as today.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh (Vice Rector of the University) praised and acknowledged the large and responsible participation of PhD students inside and outside the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. “More than 140 reports were submitted, many of which were carefully prepared, serious, and of high scientific quality; more than 100 PhD students attended in person, showing that the workshop is truly a prestigious academic forum, where PhD students and young researchers can exchange and publish their research results; at the same time, they can listen to many suggestions from experts on the issues they are interested in and researching in their doctoral theses. This is also a testament to the University's close support so that students and PhD students can complete the output standards in accordance with regulations, improve their research and international publication capabilities” – Vice Rector Lai Quoc Khanh emphasized.

The Organizing Committee of the Workshop selected nearly 30 outstanding reports to present directly to 3 sub-committees. After the presentations, the scientists chairing the workshop will comment, suggest and ask questions so that the reporters can clarify some of the content surrounding the topic. In addition, the delegates attending the Workshop also raised many questions to exchange and discuss with the reporters and scientists.

With lively and critical discussions, the workshop brought many new perspectives on a number of social sciences and humanities issues of current concern: policy implementation in Vietnam, intercultural diplomacy, cultural capital in tourism development, digital capacity, mental health care, population aging,... with a number of reports:Khmer Theravada Buddhist education – foundation and resource for the development of the Southwest region; Cultural capital in tourism development of the Thai people in Ban Ang, Dong Sang commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province; Promoting digitalization and management, using digital documents for electronic storage and data sharing in the people's police; Disclosure of child abuse in Asian countries: a scoping review; Digital skills: foundation for sustainable development of theunmarketableVietnamese youth in the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise,...
The workshop truly creates an academic forum for young staff and postgraduate students to publish and exchange new research results related to their theses and dissertations. At the same time, the workshop aims to support postgraduate students and young staff to enhance their international publication capacity in response to the requirements of international standards applied in scientific activities of domestic and foreign organizations.
According to information from the Organizing Committee, after the workshop, the PhD students will complete the full-text report (both English and Vietnamese) based on the feedback from experts at the training units. The high-quality reports will continue to be carefully edited and published in the Third International Scientific Proceedings on Social Sciences and Humanities; and also published in prestigious domestic and foreign journals.
