On the morning of May 22, 2026, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, organized a training program on the theme "Social Sciences and Humanities in the AI Era: Tools, Methods, and Practical Applications," aiming to update knowledge and enhance the capacity to apply artificial intelligence (AI) in research, teaching, and scientific publication for its faculty and researchers.

In his opening remarks, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized that the rapid development of AI is creating profound changes in higher education and scientific research globally. In the context of digital transformation and increasingly deep international integration, enhancing the digital skills and AI application capabilities of lecturers and researchers in the social sciences and humanities is of particular importance for innovating research methods, improving training quality, and strengthening international publication capacity.

Professor Hoang Anh Tuan delivered the opening remarks at the training program.

The training program attracted nearly 100 lecturers and researchers from many prestigious training and research institutions such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; the Vietnam Women's Academy; Hanoi University of Industry, along with many other universities, research institutes, and academic agencies. The large presence of lecturers and researchers from various academic institutions demonstrates the growing interest of the social sciences and humanities community in the far-reaching impacts of artificial intelligence in research, teaching, and scientific publication. At the same time, this reflects the urgent need to update knowledge, enhance digital skills, and strengthen the application of AI in higher education and scientific research today.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities - was the main speaker at the training program. He was accompanied by lecturer Tran Duc Hoa, who directly discussed, guided, and provided practical sessions with participants on many in-depth topics related to the application of artificial intelligence in research in the social sciences and humanities. With a focus on combining theory, methodology, and practice, the program not only introduced new trends in AI development but also concentrated on analyzing the changes this technology is creating in scientific research and international academic publications.

Through thematic sessions and practical exercises, the program helps participants better identify the opportunities that AI offers in enhancing research productivity, expanding access to international knowledge, and improving the effectiveness of scientific publications. At the same time, speakers also highlighted the challenges and issues arising in the AI era, such as the authenticity of knowledge, academic ethics, fact-checking skills, the risks of technological dependence, and the need to protect critical thinking in social sciences and humanities research.
Besides providing up-to-date knowledge on AI, the program also focuses on equipping participants with the skills to apply AI in research projects and enhance their ability to publish internationally. One of the program's highlights is its "practical" orientation, emphasizing real-world experience and hands-on practice with various AI tools in specific situations.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh and lecturer Tran Duc Hoa exchange ideas at the training program.

The training program "Social Sciences and Humanities in the AI Era: Tools, Methods, and Practical Applications" is expected to contribute to enhancing the digital capabilities of lecturers and researchers; promote an innovative academic environment; and support the modernization of training and scientific research activities in the context of the rapid development of digital technology and artificial intelligence today.
