Thư mời viết bài Hội thảo: ‘Nhân học và tộc người ở Việt Nam trong bối cảnh chuyển đổi số’ (Anthropology and ethnicity in Vietnam in the context of digital transformation)"

1. Background and reasons for organizing the event.

The issue of ethnic minorities is placed strategically by the Party and the State in the process of socio-economic development and national defense. In recent years, in the global trend of digital transformation, the State has begun implementing a national digital transformation program with many specific programs and activities from the central to local levels. The current digital transformation is strongly impacting all aspects of the lives of ethnic minorities, creating many opportunities and advantages in socio-economic development, education, healthcare, etc., while also containing numerous challenges in social management, commercial transactions, and law enforcement within ethnic communities in Vietnam, ethnic minorities in mountainous regions, foreign communities living in Vietnam, and a segment of Vietnamese people residing abroad. Practical experience shows that ethnic issues in the context of Vietnam's dynamic digital transformation require adequate discussion among scientists and policymakers, thereby contributing effectively to the sustainable development of ethnic communities in Vietnam today and with a vision to 2030. Based on this, the Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is developing a plan to organize an international scientific conference entitled "Anthropology and Ethnicity in Vietnam in the Context of Digital Transformation".

2. Purpose and Themes

From an anthropological perspective, the conference serves as an international scientific forum bringing together scientists and policymakers to share new research findings and discuss policy issues related to the cultural, economic, social, and sustainable development dimensions of ethnic groups in Vietnam during the digital transformation process. The conference promises a system of high-quality scientific reports and policy advice with practical significance, contributing to a more thorough analysis, assessment, and explanation of ethnic issues in Vietnam in the digital age, especially the following topics:
  1. Internal ethnic issues (ethnic relations, ethnic culture and language, etc.) and external ethnic issues (foreign communities in Vietnam and Vietnamese people abroad) in Vietnam in the context of digital transformation;

  3. Social relations issues, social stratification, challenges in health, education, environment, and climate change in ethnic minority areas, rural plains, and urban areas in the context of digital transformation;
