This is one of the activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, towards commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); remembering and paying tribute to the great sacrifices and achievements of our army and people, thereby raising awareness of the value of freedom and national independence. The program was jointly organized by the Museum of History and Culture, the Faculty of History, the Faculty of Political Science, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, attracting the participation of more than 500 scientists, lecturers, students and interested individuals.
From the glorious historical images of the country.The photo exhibition commemorating "50 years since the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the Unification of the Country" proudly presents 40 documentary images capturing historical moments of the nation's great resistance war against the United States.
The exhibition content is divided into 05 parts, including: (1) The Great War: Introducing important milestones of the war; decisive battles and achievements of the army and people of both North and South in the resistance war against the US; (2) Life in War: Displaying photos of the lives of people in both regions during the war; (3) Liberation Day of the South: Historical moments on April 30, 1975, when the troops entered to liberate Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City; (4) 50 Years of National Unification: Images reflecting the development of the country from 1975 to the present; (5) Introducing the book and author: "A Vision from History to Perfect Vietnamese Values in the New Era" and "April 30, 1975 - 50 Years Looking Back".
These precious images have helped the public better understand the nation's great war of national defense, with its aspirations for peace, the sacrifices, losses, and the lives of the people of both North and South Vietnam during 20 years of fierce war, fostering greater love and appreciation for the values of peace.
Representatives from the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, presented flowers to express their gratitude to the authors of the two books displayed at the exhibition.
The exhibition attracted many reputable scientists, researchers, lecturers, students, and interested visitors.
The commemorative photo exhibition will be displayed in the lobby of building E from April 22nd to April 24th, 2024, and in the courtyard of building D, University of Social Sciences and Humanities from April 25th to April 29th, 2025, for a wide range of faculty, staff, and students to visit.
The message then shifts to the value of peace, independence, and freedom for the nation.At the auditorium on the 8th floor of building E of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, a seminar introducing two books titled "Perspectives from History: Perfecting Vietnamese Values in the New Era" and "April 30, 1975 - 50 Years Looking Back" began with the authors' recollections of momentous historical moments of the nation.
After more than two decades of tenacious struggle, overcoming countless difficulties and sacrifices, the resistance war against the US for national liberation (1954-1975) ended in complete victory with the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. Over more than 20 years, under the leadership of the Party, our army and people successively defeated the war strategies of the US and the Republic of Vietnam government, culminating in the victory of April 30, 1975, liberating the South, unifying the country, and marking a glorious milestone in the history of the Vietnamese nation.

The book "Perspectives from History: Perfecting Vietnamese Values in the New Era" by Lieutenant General, Doctor Nguyen Van Huong - former Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Deputy Minister of Public Security - is a work that provides a system of viewpoints and solutions for national development in the new era. From a historical and cultural perspective, Lieutenant General, Doctor Nguyen Van Huong has proposed a system of viewpoints and solutions to help Vietnam quickly perfect its values, entering the new era with solid foundations and launching pads to reach greater heights and achieve further success.

The second book, titled "April 30, 1975 - 50 Years in Retrospect," is by architect Nguyen Huu Thai, former General Association of Saigon Students 1963-1964, who witnessed the crucial historical moment at the Independence Palace and the radio station on April 30, 1975. The book provides readers with valuable documents to clarify the important events that took place at the Independence Palace on April 30, 1975, and offers the author some new interpretations of the Vietnamese people's struggle for national defense.

Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, former Head of the History Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, moderated the seminar program.
The victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign was significant not only for Vietnam and its people but also had profound international implications. It symbolized the spirit of independence, self-reliance, and the indomitable will of oppressed nations worldwide, strongly encouraging the national liberation movement. This victory ended the prolonged and costly intervention of the United States in Vietnam, contributing to a change in the global political landscape and affirming the truth: a nation, however small, that is united and determined to fight for independence and freedom will inevitably triumph. The Ho Chi Minh Campaign will forever remain a glorious chapter in history; a powerful testament to the strength of patriotism and the aspiration for peace and unity of the Vietnamese people.
