Nearly 1000 students from the whole school participate in scientific research

The 21st Student Science Conference of the 2015-2016 academic year of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities took place on the morning of May 19, 2016.

Nearly 1000 students from the whole school participate in scientific research

Posters of outstanding scientific works by students are displayed in the school yard.

This year, the school has 991 students participating in scientific research with 780 projects. The number of students participating in scientific research accounts for 16.65% of the total number of students in the school. The three faculties with the largest number of students participating in scientific research are the Faculty of Literature (120 students with 119 projects), the Faculty of Journalism and Communication (118 students with 110 projects), and the Faculty of Oriental Studies (114 students with 112 projects).

To promote the results of student research, abstracts of the most representative scientific works were printed on colorful posters and displayed in the school yard before the conference. Abstracts of these works were also posted online a few weeks in advance to find out which works received the most support from the online student community.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Rector of the University shared with students the importance of scientific research for the development of the University. Scientific research is one of the most important pillars in the context of the University aiming to become an advanced research university in the region. Student scientific research contributes significantly to realizing the criteria of a research university, as well as contributing to improving the quality of teaching activities.

The Principal also encouraged students to actively participate in research activities to turn their creative ideas into reality, satisfy their career passion and contribute to solving many practical problems of social life.

Not divided into subcommittees as in previous years, this year's Conference only had one plenary session and 5 typical research projects of students were selected to present to a large number of teachers and students. These projects are:

  • Ottoman–Acehnese relations in the 16th century- Doan Tung Anh (K58, Faculty of History).
  • Confucian classics from a Buddhist perspective through a survey of works"Direct Pointing to the Mean: Supplement to the Commentary of Great Master Ngau Ich" -Pham Doan Phuong (K58 Han Nom, Faculty of Literature).
  • Inference in Vietnamese conversation (based on 80 jokes) -Doan Canh Tuan (K58 Faculty of Linguistics).
  • Reception of Chinese romance novels among Vietnamese youth in the past five years(2011-2015).
  • The impact of Facebook social network on students' learning today (case study of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU)- Nguyen Lan Nguyen, Nguyen Thi Viet Linh (K57, Faculty of Sociology).

 

MSc. Pham Huy Cuong - Deputy Head of Political and Student Affairs Department awarded certificates of merit to students who won awards.

The school awarded 20 first prizes, 30 second prizes, and 45 third prizes for outstanding scientific works of students.

Collective awards include:

  • First Prize: Faculty of Literature.
  • Second Prize: Faculty of Linguistics, Faculty of Information - Library.
  • Third Prize: Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Political Science.

Dr. Tran Bach Hieu - Secretary of the School Youth Union awarded certificates of merit from the School Youth Union to students who received the Green Torch award.

The three projects that received the most support from the online community are:

  • Accessibility to information on activities of the Youth Union - Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
  • Awareness and preparation of students of Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the formation of the ASEAN Community.
  • Survey of language in weather forecasts (broadcast on VTV1 channel of Vietnam Television in the first 3 months of 2016).

The School also awarded the Green Torch Prize to 7 research projects of good quality and significance to the student movement, including:

  • The impact of Facebook social network on current student learning (Case study of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU) -Nguyen Lan Nguyen (K57 Sociology), Nguyen Thi Viet Linh (K58 Sociology), Nguyen Thao Nguyen (K59 Sociology).
  • Awareness and preparation of students of Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the formation of the ASEAN Community -Dang Thuy Ninh (K58 Oriental Studies).
  • Information competence of students of University of Social Sciences and Humanities through social network facebook -Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh, Dang Ngoc Linh (K58 Information Technology).
  • Learning-helping behavior of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities -Nguyen Thi Minh Hien (K58 Psychology).
  • Educating traditional moral values ​​for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the current context of international integration -Le Thi Thom (K59 Philosophy CLC).
  • Accessibility to information on activities of the Youth Union - Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities -Nguyen Thanh Binh (K58 Information Technology).
  • Reading culture of students of the Faculty of Information - Library and the Faculty of Archival Science and Office Management, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi- Nguyen Thanh Van, Pham Thi Phuong (K58 Information Technology).
