Party cell of the Faculty of International Studies: Prioritizing the development of staff.

The Party cell of the Faculty of International Studies has a small number of Party members (8 members), including lecturers, undergraduates, and postgraduate students. During the 2017-2020 term, the Party cell prioritized thorough preparation of its staff in terms of quality, alongside strengthening political and ideological education.

Party cell of the Faculty of International Studies: Prioritizing the development of staff.

With the attention and support of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and the functional units of the University, right from the beginning of the term, the Party Committee of the Faculty of International Studies has assigned tasks and established a plan to implement the resolution of the Party Congress for the 2017-2020 term regarding the improvement of the qualifications and quality of the staff.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Pham Quang Minh presented the certificate of commendation for achieving the standard of a clean and strong Party branch of the University's Party Committee in 2018 to the Party branch of the Faculty of International Studies.

The Party cell and the Faculty's leadership board have implemented various measures: developing study plans for postgraduate students and regularly monitoring their progress; encouraging research paper writing and participation in conferences as ways to improve professional skills; encouraging participation in teaching English as a way to maintain foreign language proficiency; creating opportunities for staff to participate in courses inside and outside the university; organizing scientific seminars to improve teaching methods (August 30, 2018); and organizing a scientific seminar through the Staff Youth Union (March 12, 2019)...

Professor Pham Quang Minh delivered a speech at the meeting welcoming the first cohort of students of the Department of International Development Studies.

By the beginning of 2020, the Faculty had 6 lecturers who had completed their doctoral degrees. Currently, the total number of lecturers with a doctoral degree or higher is 11 out of 16 (accounting for 69%). The Faculty also has 2 doctoral candidates preparing to defend their dissertations, and all remaining staff members are currently pursuing doctoral studies.

Regarding the creation of high-quality scientific products and enhanced integration, in 2019, the Faculty of International Studies successfully completed one national-level project with 100% excellent ratings, one national-level project with a good rating, and two institutional-level projects with good and excellent ratings. In 2020, the Faculty still has one national-level project and is preparing to complete four institutional-level projects by young lecturers.

In addition, the Faculty published 5 international articles, 5 monographs, translated 5 documents, published 1 textbook, and compiled 2 lecture notes for research and teaching purposes. The Faculty organized 1 conference for lecturers and postgraduate students. Throughout the academic years, the Faculty's lecturers successfully met the research targets set by the University.

In addition to participating in research and teaching activities within the University, the faculty members of the Department of International Studies are also regularly invited to participate in many other scientific activities both domestically and internationally. Faculty members are invited to teach and evaluate theses, dissertations, and scientific projects at the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the Academy of Journalism and Communication, the Diplomatic Academy, Duy Tan University, Da Nang University, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City)... Besides accumulating experience from these scientific activities, the faculty members of the Department of International Studies have also contributed to building the reputation of the Department and the University in the field of international relations research in particular, and the field of social sciences and humanities in general.

The international conference "International Relations in a Free and Open Indo-Pacific Region" was held on July 26, 2019.

Currently, the Party branch of the Faculty of International Studies is finalizing preparations for the Party branch congress for the 2020-2022 term in April 2020. The slogan for the Party branch congress for the 2020-2022 term is “Unity, democracy, discipline, dynamism, development."The Party cell of the Faculty of International Studies wishes to further improve Party building and personnel management, contributing to the successful completion of assigned political tasks.

Currently, the Faculty of International Studies offers all three levels of education: undergraduate, master's, and doctoral. The number of full-time and dual-degree students is approximately 400, with about 45 postgraduate students (2 cohorts) and about 40 doctoral students (4 cohorts). It is projected that from the 2020-2021 academic year, the Faculty's high-quality training program (according to Circular 23 of the Ministry of Education and Training) will enroll approximately 30-40 students.
