Sharing the same view, Ms. Ping Kitnikone said that sexual violence is one of many forms of violence against women and girls that is still happening in many countries around the world. Regardless of the form, this is unacceptable. And this is also one of the concerns in many social activities that the Canadian Embassy coordinates with many other international organizations. She also said that young people will be important factors in sending meaningful messages against these crimes.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication spoke about the social role of press and media in raising awareness and changing social behavior about violence against women.
Ms. Dang Thi Thu Huong shared information: Vietnam is a country with many achievements in eliminating the gap in gender equality over the past 20 years, but Vietnam is currently facing many challenges regarding violence against women and girls. And it is clear that the media plays an important role in changing the awareness, attitudes and behaviors of society on this issue. She also believes that the close cooperation and enthusiastic support of the Canadian Embassy and non-profit organizations such as CSAGA have promoted and inspired those working in the field of journalism and media to be more aware of their role and social responsibility, contributing to building a more equal and better society.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen encouraged and motivated students to express their opinions and come up with communication ideas from the communication knowledge they had learned.
At the discussion, stories about violence against women in life were shared by young people in a surprising way. Because sexual violence can happen right next to us and any woman can encounter it. Because sometimes it happens simply from seemingly small daily situations that we may not notice or ignore. And it is fear and resignation that have caused many women to suffer, be disadvantaged and not dare to share with anyone.
