At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam - Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language reviewed the outstanding achievements that the Faculty has achieved in recent times.
Currently, the Faculty has trained 4 undergraduate courses with nearly 250 Vietnamese students. The number of international students currently studying at the Faculty includes 70 agreement students, 30 undergraduate students, 20 international graduate students and more than 100 students in short-term classes. Foreign students come from 30 different countries.
Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Duc - former Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language talked with teacher Bui Thanh Ninh - former lecturer of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language. This is Mr. Thanh Ninh's first return to the Department after 40 years.
Teachers of many generations were present at the celebration ceremony.
Since 2015, the Faculty has also started training the first graduate course specializing in Vietnamese Studies with nearly 40 students, including 20 international students. In 2016 alone, out of 19 international students of the School, there were 12 students from the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language.
The Faculty also opened 4 short-term training courses on Vietnamese language teaching methods for foreigners and granted certificates to more than 100 students; was in charge of professional training for nearly 60 Vietnamese language teachers abroad organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Training.
The annual November 20th celebration is always a reunion and gratitude for the contributions of teachers to the development of the Faculty.
The Faculty's staff has demonstrated their high level of expertise and prestige as the core force in upgrading the Vietnamese proficiency assessment toolkit implemented by VNU, in addition to the Vietnamese proficiency framework for foreigners issued by the Ministry of Education and Training since September 2015. The Faculty has also completed the format of the Vietnamese test according to the 6-level Vietnamese proficiency framework signed and issued by the Ministry of Education and Training since June 21, 2016. At the end of July this year, the Prime Minister signed and approved the project to enhance online Vietnamese teaching, which the Faculty chaired in terms of expertise, in coordination with a number of other units.
The Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language holds a special position in the system of training units of the University. The Faculty is the cradle of traditional training in Vietnamese language and culture, with many contributions in bringing Vietnamese language and culture to international friends.
In foreign affairs activities, the Faculty sent teachers to train teachers in Vietnamese teaching methods and Vietnamese exam questions at some universities in Thailand; helped some Taiwanese universities compile Vietnamese language programs and textbooks; and sent young staff to actively participate in international conferences abroad.
The Dean affirmed: The Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language is making important changes to affirm a new position at the national and international level. This achievement is thanks to the traditional foundations built by previous generations, the integration efforts of today's young staff, and the high awareness and responsibility of the Faculty in preserving and developing Vietnamese language and culture.
The ceremony took place in an intimate atmosphere with many touching sharings from generations of teachers and homegrown performances from Vietnamese and foreign students.
