At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam - Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language - reviewed the outstanding achievements that the Department has accomplished in the past period.
Currently, the Faculty has been training four undergraduate cohorts with nearly 250 Vietnamese students. The number of international students studying at the Faculty includes 70 students under agreements, 30 undergraduate students, 20 international postgraduate students, and over 100 students in short-term courses. These foreign students come from 30 different countries.

Professor Dinh Van Duc, former Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, converses with Professor Bui Thanh Ninh, former lecturer in the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language. This marks Professor Thanh Ninh's first return to the Department after 40 years.

Teachers from many generations were present at the anniversary ceremony.
Since 2015, the Faculty has also begun training its first postgraduate course in Vietnamese Studies with nearly 40 students, including 20 international students. In 2016 alone, out of 19 international students at the University, 12 were from the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language.
The Faculty also organized four short-term training courses on Vietnamese language teaching methods for foreigners and awarded certificates to over 100 students; it was also responsible for the professional development of a training course for nearly 60 Vietnamese language teachers abroad organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Training.

The annual November 20th celebration is always a time for reunion and appreciation for the contributions of the faculty members to the development of the Department.
The Faculty's staff has demonstrated high professional competence and prestige by being the core force in upgrading the Vietnamese language proficiency assessment tools implemented by Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in addition to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners issued by the Ministry of Education and Training in September 2015. The Faculty also completed the Vietnamese language exam format according to the 6-level Vietnamese language proficiency framework signed and issued by the Ministry of Education and Training on June 21, 2016. At the end of July this year, the Prime Minister approved the project to strengthen online Vietnamese language teaching, which the Faculty is leading in terms of expertise, in coordination with several partner units.

The Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language holds a special place within the university's training system. The department is a cradle for training in the Vietnamese language and culture, with a long tradition and significant contributions to bringing the Vietnamese language and culture to the international community.
In its external relations activities, the Faculty sent teachers to several universities in Thailand for training on Vietnamese language teaching methods and Vietnamese language exam preparation; assisted several universities in Taiwan in compiling Vietnamese language curricula and textbooks; and sent young staff members to actively participate in international conferences abroad.
The Head of Department affirmed: The Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language is undergoing significant transformations to establish a new position at the national and international levels. This achievement is thanks to the traditional foundations built by previous generations, the integration efforts of today's young staff, and the high level of awareness and responsibility of the Department in preserving and developing the Vietnamese language and culture.
The ceremony took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with many touching stories shared by generations of teachers and "homegrown" musical performances by Vietnamese and international students.
