Late Professor, Meritorious Teacher Tran Quoc Vuong
He is a famous Vietnamese historical and cultural researcher, former Head of the Department of Archaeology and the Department of Cultural Studies and Vietnamese Cultural History (Faculty of History, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU). This is great news for the family, colleagues, friends and generations of students of the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong. Hanoi now has a street named after Tran Quoc Vuong - as a way of remembering, showing gratitude and honor from the Party Committee, government and people of the capital to the Professor as a famous person with great contributions to the country and the nation.
Tran Quoc Vuong Street is 750m long and 13.5m wide, starting from the intersection with Xuan Thuy Street (at house number 165) to the intersection with Pham Hung Street (opposite the Traditional Medicine Hospital).
On the morning of October 28, 2016, the People's Committee of Cau Giay District organized a ceremony to name a street after Professor Tran Quoc Vuong. Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi City, Cau Giay District, representatives of the family of the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong, colleagues, friends and many generations of students.

Professor Tran Quoc Vuong:Born on December 12, 1934 in Kinh Mon district, Hai Duong province, he passed away in 2005. His hometown is Le Xa commune, Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province. He was the youngest child in a family with many people who were enlightened early and followed the revolution and the Party. His passion for literature and history, his devotion to Vietnamese history and culture also stemmed from his family's tradition of patriotism, love of learning, and diligence in studying.
After graduating as valedictorian in 1956, he was retained as a lecturer at the Faculty of History, Hanoi University of Science. During his training and research career, Professor Tran Quoc Vuong contributed to the establishment of the Department of Archaeology, the Center for Intercultural and Historical Studies, the Department of Cultural Tourism, the Department of Vietnamese Cultural History and Human Geography, etc.
During many years of his life, Professor Tran Quoc Vuong has always been diligent in researching Hanoi and has had many erudite and unique scientific works about Hanoi. He is also the pioneer in building the field of Hanoi studies. During his lifetime, he held the positions of General Secretary of the Hanoi Folklore Association, Vice President of the Vietnam Folklore and Literature Association, and President of the Hanoi History Association, term 2.
He has written over 400 scientific research articles published in professional journals and published over 40 books at home and abroad. He was awarded the title of Professor in 1980, Distinguished Teacher in 1990, and the First Class Labor Medal in 1997.
