Hanoi now has a street named after Professor Tran Quoc Vuong.

On August 3, 2016, at the 2nd session of the 15th term of the Hanoi City People's Council, Resolution No. 07/NQ-HĐND was passed, and the City People's Committee issued Decision No. 4659/QĐ-UBND on August 26, 2016, regarding the naming of new roads in the capital city, including a road named after Professor Tran Quoc Vuong.

The late Professor, Distinguished Educator Tran Quoc Vuong

He was a renowned Vietnamese historian and cultural researcher, former Head of the Department of Archaeology and the Department of Cultural Studies and Vietnamese Cultural History (Faculty of History, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi). This is great news for the family, colleagues, friends, and generations of students of the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong. Hanoi now has a street named Tran Quoc Vuong - as a remembrance, gratitude, and honor from the Party Committee, government, and people of the capital city to the Professor as a distinguished figure who made great contributions to the country and the nation.

Tran Quoc Vuong Street is 750m long and 13.5m wide, starting from the intersection with Xuan Thuy Street (at house number 165) to the intersection with Pham Hung Street (opposite the Traditional Medicine Hospital).

On the morning of October 28, 2016, the People's Committee of Cau Giay District held a ceremony to unveil the street nameplate for Professor Tran Quoc Vuong. Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Cau Giay District, representatives of the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong's family, as well as colleagues, friends, and many generations of his students.

Tran Quoc Vuong Street is located in Cau Giay District, Hanoi.

Representatives of the family of the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong, along with representatives of the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, at the ceremony to unveil the street sign Tran Quoc Vuong.

Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Professor Nguyen Van Kim (Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), and Professor Nguyen Quang Ngoc (former Head of the History Department) participated in the plaque unveiling ceremony.

Generations of colleagues and students of the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong on this joyous occasion.

Professor Tran Quoc Vuong:Born on December 12, 1934, in Kinh Mon District, Hai Duong Province, he passed away in 2005. His ancestral home was in Le Xa Commune, Duy Tien District, Ha Nam Province. He was the youngest child in a family where many members were early enlightened and followed the revolution and the Party. His passion for literature and history, and his devotion to Vietnamese history and culture, stemmed from his family's tradition of patriotism, love of learning, and dedication to education.

After graduating at the top of his class in 1956, he was retained as a lecturer at the Faculty of History, Hanoi University. In his teaching and research career, Professor Tran Quoc Vuong contributed to the establishment of the Department of Archaeology, the Center for Intercultural and Historical Studies, the Department of Culture and Tourism, the Department of Vietnamese Cultural History, and the Department of Human Geography…

Throughout his life, Professor Tran Quoc Vuong devoted himself to researching Hanoi and produced profound and outstanding scholarly works on the city. He was also a pioneer in establishing the field of Hanoi studies. During his lifetime, he held positions such as General Secretary of the Hanoi Folk Arts Association, Vice President of the Vietnam Folk Culture and Arts Association, and President of the Hanoi Historical Society (2nd term).

He has written over 400 scientific research papers published in professional journals and has had over 40 books published both domestically and internationally. He was awarded the title of Professor in 1980, the title of Outstanding Educator in 1990, and the First Class Labor Medal in 1997. In 2012, he was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Science and Technology (Fourth Round) by the President of Vietnam.
