In the process of modernization, globalization, and international integration, Vietnam, as well as other Asian countries, have witnessed significant changes in many aspects in both rural and urban areas. In this context, placing urban areas in relation to rural areas, connecting the locality with the global, and the present with the past, studying and explaining urban transformations in Vietnam and other Asian countries is both scientifically and practically significant, requiring a collaborative, integrated, interdisciplinary approach, and especially...commitmentandenter the gameof the social sciences and humanities.

The articles aim to answer two major questions: How has urban transformation occurred and is it occurring in different spatial and temporal contexts in Vietnam and Asia? What voice and contribution can the social sciences and humanities make to urban research and urban transformation?
