According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hong (a specialist in the Training Department) - one of the staff members responsible for advising prospective students - this year, the number of students and parents visiting the school's counseling booth was significantly higher than last year. Over 4000 leaflets with concise information about the school were distributed at the admissions counseling event. More than a thousand people received direct advice on career opportunities and how to choose a major at the school.

According to Dr. Pham Huy Cuong (Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Department), the top concern for students this year is the changes in the 2017 university admission process. Accordingly, the university will consider applications based on the results of the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and the valid results of the aptitude test organized by Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Students who took the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination will be considered based on the announced subject combinations, following the principle of selecting candidates from highest to lowest total scores (including regional and preferential treatment) until all quotas are filled. The following four subject combinations will be used for admission: C00 (Literature, History, Geography), D01-D06 (Mathematics, Literature, Foreign Language), D78-D83 (Literature, Foreign Language, Social Sciences), and A00 (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry). For students who took the National Competency Assessment Exam two years ago, the selection process is based on total scores (including regional and preferential treatment) from highest to lowest until all available slots are filled.

The school also directly admits students who have won first, second, or third prize in the national excellent student selection exam and the national science and technology competition and have graduated from high school, in accordance with the current regulations on admission to regular university programs of the Ministry of Education and Training.
