The 2017 National Press Conference, themed "Vietnamese Journalism Accompanying the Country's Renewal," took place from March 17-19 in Hanoi.

The 2017 National Press Conference was organized on a national scale, with the broad participation of press agencies and central and local Journalists' Associations. The conference featured 23 booths from press agencies in Hanoi, the central government, and various sectors, showcasing hundreds of publications in a vibrant display. The attractive newspaper covers, with their diverse styles and rich content, represented the creative products of each press agency. The conference also included exhibitions such as: “Vietnamese Journalism – A Century of Female Topics and Authors”; “On the Roads of the Country”; and a forum on the theme “Journalistic Ethics in the Digital Age”… At the conference, readers and the public gained a comprehensive overview of the outstanding activities of each press agency over the past year; and the innovation and development of press agencies in Hanoi and central and sectoral press agencies in the area.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visited the exhibition booth showcasing the achievements in research and training of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that: in order to have a developed press with a diverse and rich appearance as it is today, journalism training is the first and most important step.

This year, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication participated in the Press Conference with a dedicated exhibition booth, showcasing its achievements over 25 years of research and teaching in journalism and communication, providing the country with more than 10,000 high-quality graduates working in this field. The Faculty is also a leading center for journalism and communication research in the country, with collaborative relationships with many top universities worldwide. The Faculty has led two national-level research projects and numerous other research projects at various levels.

The exhibition booth of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication was visited by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam highly appreciated the achievements of the Faculty in research and training and emphasized that: To have a strong, diverse and rich press as it is today, journalism training remains the first and most important step.

Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication) converses with journalist Thuan Huu - Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Journalist Ho Quang Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, visited the exhibition booth of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication. He expressed great admiration for the publications on Journalism and Communication research – the achievements of the Faculty's staff.

Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thu Huong - Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication and Dr. Bui Chi Trung (lecturer in the Broadcasting and Television Department) introduced journalist Ho Quang Loi to new courses taught at the Faculty, meeting the trends of modern journalism such as: multimedia journalism, mobile journalism in the mobile era...

The highlight of the Faculty's exhibition booth was the photo exhibition "Journalism Training in the Digital Age," featuring authentic and vivid photographs documenting students' learning process in the classroom, international conferences, projects in collaboration with domestic and foreign partners, and journalism awards won by the Faculty's students. The exhibition reflected the Faculty's efforts in building a professional learning environment that emphasizes practical application, where students learn theory and practice using professional, modern equipment comparable to that of external media organizations. Recent innovations in journalism and communication training were also reflected, such as: renowned journalists being invited to lecture and give specialized talks to students, students participating in internships and directly producing journalistic products for professional media organizations, students defending their graduation projects with a specific journalistic product, and the graduation thesis defense becoming a meeting and "sales pitch" between students and employers.

The scientific works of the Faculty's staff were widely publicized at the Press Conference.

The Faculty also brought to the Press Conference the latest scientific publications, reflecting the new achievements in journalistic theory research that the Faculty's staff have carried out.

Participating in the 2017 Spring Press Exhibition, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication had the opportunity to connect, interact, and establish cooperative relationships with press and news agencies nationwide.
