Nearly 1,100 new graduates of the K66 cohort from 16 faculties/institutes were honored to receive their diplomas at a solemn graduation ceremony held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, on July 29-30, 2025.
The ceremony not only marks the end of a four-year university journey, but also provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and families to reflect on the years of growth, overcoming challenges, and to be proud of the knowledge, skills, and life ideals that the new graduates carry with them. From a generation of students who grew up facing challenges… The K66 students – a cohort who entered university amidst social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, online learning, and adapting to a turbulent world – have demonstrated resilience and the ability to overcome challenges through their four-year journey of study, training, and growth. The entire auditorium on the 8th floor was filled with emotion as the faculty leaders of the Departments/Institutes conveyed their feelings to the new graduates through a short documentary. It was not only a sharing of experiences from the teachers on the Humanities lecture platform, but also the heartfelt advice of parents who have always watched over their students' growth.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University, extended his congratulations to the K66 cohort on their achievements – a generation that has overcome challenges to stand firm and reach where they are today.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the University - congratulated and expressed gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support of the University and students throughout this challenging journey.
Representatives of the graduating class presented flowers to express their gratitude to the teachers in the School Board and the Board of Directors.
In her speech in English representing the students at the graduation ceremony, Bui Minh Thuy - Valedictorian of the International Studies major - reminded everyone:Perhaps the K66 graduating class had a rather unique beginning, unlike any previous class, and it was completely different from what we had imagined as we stepped into a new chapter of our lives.. Minh Thủy recalled her early days of university life through a small screen, with friends only appearing online, and the anxieties of a generation entering university amidst a pandemic. But it was precisely in those circumstances that the spirit of Humanism helped the K66 class overcome the challenges:"Being a true part of the Humanities makes us appreciate even more the love, support, and values that this place offers."

In particular, throughout this journey, many international students have chosen the Faculty of Humanities as their "second home," studying, growing, and leaving their own unique mark on this university. Their efforts to overcome language and cultural barriers, the friendships forged across borders, and their love for the Vietnamese language and for Vietnam – all have made this a truly memorable journey. Representing international students, Liang Yi Fang, a recent graduate of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, shared her heartfelt thoughts in fluent Vietnamese:“I arrived in Vietnam with a mix of excitement, apprehension, and a little anxiety. But now, on graduation day, I can proudly say: This is one of the most meaningful decisions of my life!” Having studied online in the early days, Liang doesn't forget to mention those challenging times: working in groups via screen, learning Vietnamese remotely, feeling homesick, and missing her friends. But it was through these hardships that she learned to be resilient, proactive, and more mature. To the new graduates confidently stepping out into the world. If the early days of university were a difficult time due to the pandemic, then today's graduation ceremony is a testament to the remarkable growth of K66 – a generation of students who once "couldn't see the beginning," but who have learned to turn challenges into motivation and their academic journey into a mission to unlock their potential. In her speech, Bui Minh Thuy (Faculty of International Studies) shared:"The humanities have become a second home for all of us, nurturing and supporting us throughout these years. It not only imparts knowledge but also provides us with space to grow: to be true to ourselves, to ask challenging questions, to be skeptical and to explore, to embrace both success and failure, and from there, to learn how to rise again with pride. And most importantly, it teaches us to become 'humanities people'." From specialized lectures to practical experiences both domestically and internationally, the Faculty of Humanities has opened doors connecting students with the world. Minh Thủy had the opportunity to study and conduct research at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) – a place that not only ignited her passion for academics but also fueled her ideal of contributing to her country:"My aspiration is to contribute to building a more developed and modern Vietnam, while still preserving its humanistic values."Minh Thủy expressed her deep gratitude to the school, the Faculty of International Studies, and the teachers, and emotionally emphasized:If I could go back, I would still choose this path, choose Humanities, choose International Studies, choose to walk it with all my heart.”
Liang Yi Fang, a recent graduate of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, expressed her gratitude to her teachers and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
For Liang Yi Fang, four years of studying in Vietnam was a special journey for a global citizen – where lessons came not only from the classroom, but also from local life:"Experiencing the local rhythm of life each day, from mornings with hot bowls of pho to late-night conversations over a beer on the sidewalk, has truly helped me absorb the spirit of Vietnam… These experiences have not only broadened my knowledge but also helped me grow more mature every day."" “Four years in Vietnam have been the most important springboard in my life. From a bewildered international student, I have become a global citizen with an open heart and boundless vision.”– the student from China expressed.
The graduation ceremony was attended by school leaders, heads of faculties/institutes, and a large number of parents and graduating students.
