This morning, August 14, 2025, at the headquarters of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the opening ceremony of the "Training course on teaching Vietnamese for overseas Vietnamese teachers" in 2025 took place. The program was jointly organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU and the Vietnam Education Publishing House.

Attending the ceremony were Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien, along with representatives of relevant ministries, departments, agencies, experts, lecturers and 80 overseas Vietnamese teachers from 15 countries and territories.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien affirmed that the Party and State have always paid deep attention to the preservation and dissemination of the Vietnamese language, as demonstrated by policies to support the overseas Vietnamese community in preserving their national identity and language. During their visits and working trips abroad, Party and State leaders always take time to meet with the Vietnamese community, paying special attention to learning and teaching Vietnamese. Many meetings have recorded opinions and suggestions from overseas Vietnamese, donated books and textbooks, and directly discussed with teachers and students of Vietnamese language classes in the host country. These activities have provided great motivation for the overseas Vietnamese teachers who are dedicated to preserving the Vietnamese language, the “soul of the nation” in foreign lands.

Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien

Over the years, the overseas Vietnamese community has made constant efforts to maintain and develop Vietnamese language classes for overseas Vietnamese children. From Europe, America to Asia, hundreds of Vietnamese language classes have been organized thanks to the dedication and contributions of overseas Vietnamese teachers - many of whom teach completely free of charge. In particular, in some countries with large Vietnamese populations such as Taiwan - China, Laos, etc., Vietnamese has been officially taught as a foreign language in the general education system, making an important contribution to preserving the cultural identity and national language for the young generation of Vietnamese people living far from the Fatherland.
Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien sent his thanks to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the coordinating units, and emphasized that each teacher teaching Vietnamese abroad is a cultural ambassador, a bridge connecting the Vietnamese soul in the hearts of each child living abroad, expressing his belief that with the dedication of teachers and support from within the country, the Vietnamese language will continue to be preserved and spread, contributing to fostering love for the homeland and strengthening national unity.
