Training on common first aid skills for USSH union members and students.

On September 9, 2025, a training program on common first aid skills was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with the participation of nearly 200 staff, lecturers, and students.
The program was jointly organized by the Trade Union of the Training and Student Affairs Department, the University's Trade Union, the Youth Union, and the Student Association of the University, with the support of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, VNU Hanoi; the Institute of Applied Medical Technology (IMT); and the GDSK Wellbeing Organization. This activity aims to help lecturers and students recognize health situations requiring emergency medical assistance and practice some basic first aid skills in the field.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, highly appreciated the practical and professional value of the training program. With the high level of expertise and dedication of the doctors from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, E Hospital, and Hanoi 115 Emergency Center, who are also lecturers at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the training program not only provided USSH staff, lecturers, and students with the knowledge to provide good healthcare but also equipped them with the skills to support the community when needed.
  Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, respectfully extends her gratitude to the leaders, doctors, and lecturers of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy who participated in the training program.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu - Vice Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, VNU Hanoi, delivered a speech at the training session.
During the training session, with their high level of expertise, sense of community responsibility, and dedicated guidance, the doctors and lecturers of the Department of Outpatient Emergency Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, VNU Hanoi, shared theoretical content such as: cardiopulmonary resuscitation (basic chest compressions and artificial respiration, using an Ambu bag; using an external automatic defibrillator (AED)); first aid: managing and controlling bleeding (common wounds, critical bleeding); managing fractures (detection and immobilization of fractures).
In addition, USSH staff, lecturers, and students were introduced to some medical supplies and equipment used in first aid and emergency care at the scene; they practiced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), controlling external bleeding, and defibrillating fractures.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Chinh, Deputy Head of the Department of Gastrointestinal and Trauma Surgery, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, shared theories on cardiac arrest.
 
Ms. Trinh Huong Ly - Institute of Applied Medical Technology (IMT) and GDSK Wellbeing Organization; former student of K58, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, donated a First Aid Kit and 10 copies of the book "Quick First Aid - Saving Lives" to the staff, lecturers, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
 
 
Doctors provide instruction on common first aid skills.
Previously, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with the support and cooperation of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, had carried out many activities to care for the health and equip medical skills for staff, lecturers, and students, such as seminars on nutrition and physical fitness, guidance on oral health care, and free check-ups for new students, etc. These programs received high participation and positive feedback, contributing to the implementation of the comprehensive health care policy for staff, lecturers, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular and the entire Vietnam National University, Hanoi in general.
