University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi: Streamlined - Innovative - United - Developed

The Conference of Officials, Employees and Review of the 2024-2025 Academic Year of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was held on August 22, 2025, to comprehensively evaluate the results of task implementation in the past academic year, and at the same time determine the direction and key tasks for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Attending the conference were Vice Director of VNU Hanoi Dao Thanh Truong, along with leaders of functional units of VNU Hanoi, and leaders of the University Council, Board of Directors, staff, lecturers, and employees of the University.
Streamline the organizational structure and comprehensively innovate in all areas.
The conference heard the Report summarizing the 2024-2025 academic year and the Plan for the 2025-2026 academic year of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Accordingly, in the past academic year, the University achieved many comprehensive results in all areas. Regarding student recruitment, the university's training programs attracted more than 42,000 applications with over 2,300 new students enrolled, reaching 105.8% of the target. Postgraduate enrollment also exceeded the plan, with master's programs reaching 106.2% and doctoral programs reaching 101%.
Many new training programs have been developed, and innovative teaching methods and online training continue to expand. The rate of students graduating on time or ahead of schedule reached 60%, reducing the rate of students failing to complete their programs to below 10%.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered the opening speech at the Conference.
During the past academic year, scientific research activities continued to be emphasized with 50 domestic research papers and 165 international publications, including 73 papers in ISI/Scopus journals.
The university has signed cooperation agreements with 32 domestic and international partners, welcomed over 1,000 international students, and sent hundreds of faculty members and students abroad for teaching, research, and study exchanges.
In addition, the university has completed external evaluations of 6 training programs and is also conducting self-assessments of 6 other programs according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training and AUN. Notably, the Sociology field is ranked 301–375 according to the QS Rankings 2025, making a significant mark in international rankings.
For students, the school has awarded nearly 1,400 scholarships to encourage academic achievement and 224 scholarships with a total funding of tens of billions of VND. Many activities related to healthcare, career guidance, business networking, and job fairs have been organized, contributing to improving the quality of student care.
Furthermore, a prominent achievement in educational innovation is the mastery of GenAI technology by students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, applying it effectively to learning, creativity, and entrepreneurship in the digital age. This is considered a breakthrough and pioneering step, helping students not only grasp fundamental knowledge but also develop the ability to adapt and innovate in new academic and professional environments.
Entering the new academic year, the university has set forth several key tasks, such as: streamlining the organizational structure in conjunction with university autonomy, launching new training programs to meet societal demands, accelerating digital transformation, promoting research linked to the community, expanding international cooperation, and implementing projects at the Hoa Lac campus. In particular, the university is preparing for the celebration of its 80th anniversary as a Faculty of Literature and its 30th anniversary as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – a significant historical milestone affirming the university's prestige and brand.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hong Son - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, presented the key directions and tasks of the university for the new academic year.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, presented a report on the implementation of resolutions and policies of the Party and State, and the leadership and guidance of the Board of Directors regarding the implementation of the Resolution for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the School Council, presented the report on the activities of the School Council in the 2024-2025 academic year.
Continuing to affirm its pioneering position in research and training in social sciences and humanities.
In his keynote address at the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, acknowledged the outstanding achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the 2024-2025 academic year, particularly in three areas: increasing financial autonomy with the addition of 8 tuition-fee programs based on economic and technical standards, a 27% increase in total revenue while state budget revenue decreased by 15%; and the University's successful implementation of Resolution 18 in streamlining its organizational structure, reducing the number of administrative units by 36.6%. This is an important foundation for the University's sustainable development in the new phase.
Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered a keynote address at the conference.
Furthermore, VNU-USSH is a pioneering unit within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) in digital transformation, applying technology to innovate teaching methods, and pioneering the development of a digital competency framework for students. However, it needs to further promote online teaching, aligning with VNU's overall policy on online training and the application of artificial intelligence in research and teaching, contributing to the success of VNU's digital transformation revolution in education.
The Vice Rector of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, expressed his hope that, with the strengths of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the university would be a pioneer in internationalizing education, cooperating with prestigious universities around the world in training short-term and bachelor's degree programs.
Deputy Director Dao Thanh Truong also expressed his hope that the university would accelerate the implementation of Resolution 57 by concretizing policy advisory programs at the central and local levels, and making breakthroughs in the strategy of building the campus of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Hoa Lac.
The Vice Rector of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, expressed confidence that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to be a leading institution in training and research in social sciences and humanities, contributing to the sustainable development of the nation.

Many groups and individuals from the university have had the honor of receiving prestigious awards from the State, the Government, the Ministry of Education and Training, and Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
 
Comrade Nguyen Van Thuy presented the report summarizing the emulation movement for the 2024-2025 school year and launched the emulation movement for the 2025-2026 school year.
