In accordance with Directive No. 45 of the Politburo (13th term); Plan No. 329 of the Hanoi City Party Committee on organizing party congresses and branch congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress; with the approval of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee, after a period of preparation and full implementation of all steps and procedures as prescribed, the Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi held its 7th Congress of Delegates, term 2025-2030, on July 17th and 18th, 2025.
Attending the preparatory session of the Congress were members of the Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, and the Board of Directors of VNU, along with 295 official delegates representing nearly 4,000 party members from 29 grassroots party organizations under the VNU Party Committee.
The 7th Party Congress of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) adopted the motto "Innovation - National Responsibility - Breakthrough Development," aiming to build a strong and comprehensive Party Committee that will be the pioneering nucleus leading VNU's development into an innovative university, among the world's leading universities, making significant contributions to national development in the new era.
At the preparatory session, the Congress elected a Presidium of 5 members, a Secretariat of 2 members, and a Credentials Committee of 5 members; and voted to approve the Working Program for the Official Session of the Congress and the Rules of Procedure of the Congress.
The Presidium of the Congress also reviewed some key contents of the Party's election regulations; presented a summary report of contributions to the draft documents of the 14th National Congress of the Party and the Political Report of the 18th Congress of the Hanoi City Party Committee; and highlighted some issues that need to be focused on for discussion at the Congress.
At the official session on July 18th, the Congress will approve the Political Report of the Party Committee of VNU, term VI, 2020-2025; and focus on discussing and contributing ideas on the direction, goals, and tasks for the development of VNU in the period 2025-2030.
The Congress will also elect the Executive Committee of the Party Committee for the seventh term, 2025-2030; and elect delegates to the 18th Congress of the Hanoi City Party Committee.
To ensure the success of the Congress, Comrade Le Quan - Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of VNU Hanoi - requested that delegates attending the Congress uphold a high sense of responsibility, promote democracy and collective intelligence, actively discuss and contribute many insightful and high-quality opinions on the contents of the Congress; focus on the core content, theme, motto of the Congress, objectives, directions, tasks, solutions and breakthroughs mentioned in the documents and clarify the results of leadership, guidance and implementation of tasks by the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Party Committee of VNU Hanoi, existing shortcomings, lessons learned and directions for overcoming them.
