Success after success: Students from the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities win top prizes in the High School Olympic competition.

This is the first competition organized by the Vietnam National University to motivate and encourage teachers and students to develop their creative abilities, excel in teaching and learning; create opportunities for interaction and learning to improve the quality of teaching at the high school level; and identify students with aptitude in the subject to create a pool for further training. Participation in the competition includes not only students from specialized schools under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, but also high school students nationwide.

The Specialized School of Social Sciences and Humanities has 120 students participating in 4 teams and has already achieved48 students won prizes.(3 First Prizes, 10 Second Prizes, 14 Third Prizes, and 21 Consolation Prizes). The History team led with 16 prizes: 1 First Prize, 5 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 7 Consolation Prizes; the Literature team had 14 prizes: 2 First Prizes, 3 Second Prizes, 6 Third Prizes, and 3 Consolation Prizes; the Geography team had 11 prizes: 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 6 Consolation Prizes; and the English team had 7 prizes: 2 Third Prizes and 5 Consolation Prizes.

Notably, among the 48 award-winning students, nearly half are 10th-grade students, and many of them simultaneously participated in both the school's Olympic and National Excellent Student teams, achieving high results, such as: Vu Ngoc Dan Linh (10th-grade student) won first prize in the Literature Olympic; Nguyen Ngoc Linh (second prize in the National Excellent Student competition and first prize in the Literature Olympic); Nguyen Phuong Uyen (second prize in the National Excellent Student competition and second prize in the Literature Olympic); Bui The Vinh (third prize in the National Excellent Student competition and first prize in the History Olympic); Le Hoai Nam (second prize in the National Excellent Student competition and honorable mention in the History Olympic);…

To achieve these successes, we must first acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the students. In particular, the teachers who directly guide and train the students have always been supportive, encouraging, and have employed the best methods to help them prepare effectively and achieve success in the exams.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (the school's principal) expressed his joy and pride in the achievements of the school's students in the recent National Excellent Student Competition and Olympiad. He stated that the school's students are always well-rounded and the school has selected the most outstanding students to participate in the teams. Not wanting to disappoint their teachers and families, the students have overcome their own limitations to affirm themselves and continue writing golden chapters in the history of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities. Although only established two years ago, with the achievements already attained, the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities will certainly be an ideal destination for students who love and are passionate about conquering the treasure trove of knowledge in these subjects.

Students who win first, second, or third prize in the National Excellent Student Competition and the Olympiad will be directly admitted to undergraduate programs at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (after graduating from high school and having a good conduct record for 3 years).

At the Specialized High School, in addition to intense study hours, students actively participate in many extracurricular activities. As many students have shared, besides the secret to serious studying and setting clear goals, actively participating in many beneficial activities organized by the school has added much enthusiasm and motivation, helping them achieve many successes.
