To Trung Hieu - Winner of the 7th Outstanding Youth Union and Student Association Cadre Competition at Vietnam National University, Hanoi

A journey from nothing.

Starting with youthful passion and enthusiasm, Trung Hieu has worked tirelessly to transform from an ordinary student into the Secretary of the Sociology Faculty's Student Union for the 2022-2024 term, a member of the Executive Committee of the University's Student Association, and now the champion of the "Outstanding Youth Union/Student Association Cadre" competition in 2022.

As soon as Trung Hieu learned that he had made it into the Top 12 finalists of the "Outstanding Youth Union/Student Association Cadre" competition organized by the Youth Union and Student Association of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, he prepared himself with a positive mindset and a well-thought-out competition plan to showcase himself to the judges and audience. The preparation process was challenging, but the pressure not only didn't deter the young man, but actually helped the competition organizers find a worthy "leader" for the prestigious title. "No pressure, no diamonds" - that's absolutely true.

“Surprise, joy, relief – these are three words that could describe my feelings at that moment. Surprised because the results exceeded my expectations, joyful because my efforts and those of my teammates had paid off, and relieved because I had finally overcome another ‘big’ challenge in my life,” Trung Hieu shared.

Unwearying footsteps

Volunteering can be said to be a passion "ingrained in this young man's blood." It's known that "volunteering" was also the topic Trung Hieu chose to present in the "Talented Leader" competition. As someone who considers volunteering an act for the community, Hieu spoke out against misconceptions and inaccurate perceptions about volunteering. Hieu argued: "Volunteering is not a waste of youthful energy or exploiting existing benefits; volunteering should stem from the heart, from a desire to give and the courage to act." Perhaps it is precisely for this reason that the young man's message, "Volunteer with a sincere heart and create a impact," resonated deeply with the judges.

In addition to activities within the school and student union activities, Hieu has led student teams in the Faculty to successfully organize many impactful volunteer campaigns such as: "Warm Winter - Bringing Sunshine to the Village", "Warm Spring: Tet - Connecting Love" with sponsorships totaling nearly 40 million VND.

"Because youth only comes once," Trung Hieu's volunteer days, though short, left a lasting impression: "It's absolutely true that youth is a journey of experience and contribution. We got to try many jobs we'd never done before, facing difficulties and hardships, but we never let those difficulties affect our will and spirit."

Dedication and Growth

“That will be my motto, my guiding principle throughout my future journey. Becoming the ‘leader’ of the ‘Outstanding Youth Union and Student Association Cadre 2022’ competition is a great honor; it will certainly be a motivation and a solid stepping stone on my path of dedication,” Hieu shared.
