USSH Master Tea Club No. 14: “How to Create Your Presentation?”

The event was moderated by our familiar guest speaker, Etienne Mahler, a German postgraduate student currently studying and working at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Hanoi. This was a useful sharing session aimed at providing students with experience in delivering impressive and effective presentations. In addition, students were introduced to several techniques in designing and using PowerPoint for presentations.

Presentations are no longer unfamiliar to students, but many have still felt insecure when giving a presentation, only able to read from notes with a trembling voice. Putting yourself in the listener's shoes, you'll find it incredibly boring, and you might even lose sight of the value of the presentation.

The goal of this sharing session is to help students:

- Understand the role and importance of good presentation skills, as well as the fundamental factors that influence the outcome of an effective presentation;

- Knowing how to apply effective tools, equipment, or methods to optimally control the process of presentations, meeting organization, and public speaking;

- Knowing how to be proactive, control and guide the audience towards a common goal, understanding the principles and knowing how to handle even the most complex situations during presentations or meetings.

Under the guidance of Mr. Etienne Mahler, the students engaged in positive discussions about creating an impressive and effective presentation. They listened to and analyzed issues such as: common presentation mistakes; key points to focus on to engage the audience and keep them engaged; how to deliver an impressive presentation; and how to reduce stress and build confidence during presentations. In addition, the students had the opportunity to learn more about effective and impressive PowerPoint presentation and design techniques.

In particular, this is also a good opportunity for students to improve their English communication skills, especially in using English to present a topic to a crowd.

“How to Create Your Presentation?” is a valuable event within the series of activities planned by the USSH Master's Tea Club to support students in equipping and enhancing essential skills for self-development and academic and research activities. In the upcoming 2019-2020 academic year, the USSH Master's Tea Club will continue to organize more English language sessions, skills training, networking events, and other beneficial activities.
