University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi

To commemorate the 102nd anniversary of International Women's Day, the Women's Committee of the School's Trade Union organized a cooking and flower arrangement competition on Saturday morning, March 3rd, 2012. The competition attracted participation from all departmental trade unions and hundreds of union members in the school.

Forty young lecturers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities participated in a course on "Course Design and Teaching Methods" taught by experts from the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) from February 27 to March 2, 2011.

In preparation for the 7th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Trinh Minh Thai (Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) assessed the results of political and ideological education and moral lifestyle education for union members and students during the 2009-2012 term.

In preparation for the 7th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Pham Duc Anh (Deputy Secretary of the University's Youth Union) assessed the Youth Union's activities and scientific research work of young staff members at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The orientation workshop on developing a curriculum for the subject "Social Work with People with Disabilities" at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Social Work was held on February 28, 2012. Attendees included representatives from 17 universities nationwide, research institutions, social organizations, scientists, and experts from non-governmental organizations.

Professor Nguyen Van Khang (Institute of Linguistics) analyzed and affirmed the scientific contributions of Professor Nguyen Thien Giap in linguistic research through the series of works that were awarded the State Prize for Science and Technology in 2010: "Vietnamese Lexicology" (1985) and "Words and Word Identification in Vietnamese" (1996).

Amidst the vibrant and joyful atmosphere of new students on their first day of university, a reporter from ussh.edu.vn had a quick interview with the top scorers of the 2010 university entrance exam. With radiant faces, the top scorers enthusiastically shared their joy on their first day of university and their plans for the upcoming academic year.

Having studied away from home since the 6th grade and understanding her father's hardships, Pham Thi Bich Ngoc, from the specialized Literature class at Hung Vuong High School (Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province), excelled and became one of the two valedictorians of Block C at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with a score of 26.5 (Literature: 8.0; History: 9.0 and Geography: 9.25).

On February 23, 2012, the Association of Retired Faculty Members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held its Second Congress of Delegates (term 2012-2017). Attending the Congress were representatives from the leadership of the Association of Retired Faculty Members of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Party Committee and Board of Directors, and members from various branches of the Association of Retired Faculty Members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

On February 23, 2012, an international conference on the theme "Regional Integration: Perspectives of the EU and ASEAN" was organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (Germany). Attendees included scientists from Germany, Belgium, the United States, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector of the University – attended and delivered the opening remarks.

On February 20, 2012, Professor Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan - Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi - signed decisions No. 656/QD-TCCB and No. 657/QD-TCCB regarding the appointment of staff to the position of Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the continued term 2009 – 2014.

On the occasion of the posthumous awarding of the Ho Chi Minh Prize to the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong by the State on February 18, 2012, USSH respectfully presents an article by Professor Phan Huy Le on the life and research of Professor Tran Quoc Vuong on Hanoi. This article also serves as an introduction to the book "On the Sacred Land of a Thousand Years of Culture - a collection of writings on the culture of Thang Long - Hanoi by Professor Tran Quoc Vuong," published by Hanoi Publishing House, 2010.
